Geese Chasers, LLC Reviews

  • Mar 26, 2015

Have a background in non-working dog training, I decided to open a Goose Control business using Border Collies. After a great deal of research, I purchased a franchise from Bob Young at Geese Chasers. The three main reasons for choosing Geese Chasers was the way Bob talked about how well trained their dogs are, the training I would get and the support they would provide. In addition to the franchise fee there was a fee for a trained goose dog.

I go to NJ, purchase the franchise and dog and begin my training. What was suppose to be 2 weeks training turned into 4 days with a pot smoking fool. Jeremy would go to his house at lunch and while I waited outside I could smell the aroma of weed coming from the garage. The training was weak and I learned virtually nothing that you can't learn online.

They gave me a dog, which Jeremy told me they were short of, and I went back to Colorado. Before I could get my first account, the dog shutdown and I had no control over her. When I called Bob he admitted that this was not the right dog for me, I should send her back and when I got my first account he would send another dog.

Six months later I get my first account, which Bob had me quote out at less than 1/2 of what I get today, but Geese Chasers did not have a dog for me. They sold more franchises then they had dogs. He wanted to send me a loaner dog and then when they got another dog I would have to send the loaner dog back. So I had to pay for the original dog's plane ticket to go back, then they want me to pay to have the loaner dog sent to me and sent back, then pay to have my final dog shipped to me. Unacceptable!

Being left dogless with terrible options, I got my money for the original dog back and found another one elsewhere. This dog was unusable as a goose dog, it took me close to 1 year to get her trained properly. I am left with my Pet, a non Border Collie, as the only dog that I have that will chase geese. Jeremy also told me he was told by Bob's wife not to give me any support since I was not using one of their dogs.

Over the next two months, each time I called Bob to ask a question about troubles I was having clearing geese, he would say "I have never had that problem, I don't know". He would also say I can't bring my pet dog with me while working, unfortunately he was the only dog I could do the job with. Well, realizing I wasted a lot of money on this franchise, Geese Chasers Denver went out of business. Bob Young and Geese Chasers were in breech of contract in several ways.

Spending almost every dollar I had on the franchise, I took what was left and drove to NY and got a 3 day training class from Pete at Hudson Valley Wild Goose Chasers. I learned more from Pete in 3 days than I did from Bob and Jeremy in 8 months. Pete, knowing my financial situation, would not even take more than 1 days pay for training.

With no money to sue Geese Chasers, I left Pete with a ton of confidence and ambition, now less than 1 year later, I have my own business that is doing very well and growing each month. I bought a puppy and have trained her as a very nice goose dog, I bring both my working dogs and my pet with me to work each day and contrary to what Bob said, both working dogs do fine and are not distracted by my pet. When my dogs are in work mode they see the work and are not distracted but when out of work mode love to play with balls and Frisbees and my pet. Bob's dogs will shut down and quit working if around other dogs or if played with.

Shame on Bob and Geese Chasers for their unethical practices.
