Groupon, Inc. Reviews

Groupon has an affiliate program. If you own a website, you can offer groupon deals on your site and earn commission when you sell deals. Groupon is two months behind on paying me and they owe me over $350. The affiliate program has no phone numbers listed and no emails listed. I tried emailing the merchant customer service and their regular customer service. They just keep giving me a general email bucket that no one answers. They refuse to call anyone or help in any way.

Here is my most recent reply.

I'm really sorry for the trouble. Unfortunately we would not be able to assist you in any manner regarding this concern.

Please email [email protected] and someone will get back to you. And please be patient until someone gets back to you.

Regards,

Ashwin J

Groupon Customer Support

If you are asking to join the program, they may respond. But if they owe you money they do not. It's been over a month and no one responds from the email they give. They refuse to give a phone number.

Groupon sends out emails advertising their discounts. They don't care that the discount coupons that they are marketing to you are for companies that do not do business in your area. I purchased a Groupon for a lawn care company for $52. I did not have time to get the lawn care scheduled for about a month after my purchase. When I finally got in touch with the lawn care company, they told me that they don't work in my area (even though their google map showed that they did).

I contacted Groupon's customer service to get my money back. At first they denied my request, citing some stupid three day rule. Then, when I was not satisfied with that answer, they told me that "just this one time" they would give me "groupon credit" for about half of the money that I paid them.

I have been a groupon customer for about a year, but now that I know their unfair business practices, I will not ever use their services again. I have used other online coupon companies that gladly refunded the money that I paid if I had not used the coupon.

How is it that you can return an item to a brick and mortar store and expect a refund on your return of an unused item, but Groupon thinks they can make their own rules?

According to Utah law (the state I reside in), a company must make good on the full purchase price of any gift card that has been purchased and it is illegal to refuse the customer because of some arbitrary expiration date. The fact is that you have given money to somebody for a service. If that service is no longer needed by the customer, or if you didn't request a refund by some deadline, they have to give you the money back that you paid for that gift card or they are just flat out stealing customer's money.

Please, don't use this fraudulent company!!!!

PS - they conveniently took down the Groupon for the company that I purchased mine through (Lawn Doctor).

Groupon is selling refurbushed Apple TV devices at higher-than-retail price with a claim of "30% Off"(groupon.com/deals/gg-apple-tv-with-1080p-hd-13).

They market this bogus bargain by stating that the regular price of the product is $99.99, even though the established MSRP for NEW Apple TVs is $69. They then supplement the ad with action-inspiring verbiage which imply limited quantities and time in order to encourage the customer to make a quick decision.

Thorough list of Apple TV pricing across numerous established retailers websites:

Groupon shows under the " edit order" page clearly said in a FAQ:

" Can I change or cancel my purchase?

YES, YOU CAN modify your purchase up until the deal closing, as long as you haven't printed your groupons- once you print you can no longer change your purchase. You'll see all your purchases on " MyGroupon: with link to " change my purchase" when appropriate .

Groupon supervisor claims that the information from their own FAQ is wrong and that it does not correspond to the the question.

Let me point out that this is their own FAQ, with their own question and answer to said question.

I believe that cancelling is considered a form of " modifying" an order since many website allow to you cancel an order after clicking on a " modify button"

I have read some horrific experiences describing Groupon and I believe everyone. I purchased a Starbucks Gift Card from GROUPON but when I went to use it the Validation Code was no Good. I began callong the in January to rectify the problem only to have them not do a thing. I then began emailing Groupon only to be told that the problem was on STARBUCKS end. Upon contacting STARBUCKS and telling them that I have been wrestling with Groupon for over 2 months to have them Honor a $5.00 gift card that I purchased for Starbucks they informed me that Groupon had given me an Invaild code.

How Petty is that? 2 phone calls and 13 emails and they keep offering me a Groupon credit. I told them to honor what I paid for the Starbucks card or a $5.00 refund. I did not purchase a Groupon for a Groupon Promo Code I purchased a Starbucks Card. When I spoke to Starbucks they said all that Groupon needs to do is grant me a Valid Starbucks promo code to resolve the Issue and Groupon can't even get that right. Really dumb, Groupon must be doing really really bad. Buyer Beware Groupon is Very Petty and will not issue a monetary refund even when they cant produce what you paid for ii the contract.

Purchased groupon for red rock for $169 that expired in April 2012.. Due to new job opportunity & being victimized hurricane sandy & relocating I decided to utilized coupon in December 2014. I stayed at a different facility which was the host hotel for my outing. However took at cab to red rock to utilize $169 credit for spa services. The hotel would not honor credit due to expiration of groupon. After 70 minutes waiting on hold, groupon took 30 minutes to not give some type of credit & going to tell me oh well wait for your next trip.. The nerve of groupon .. Give me a credit because I ain't going to vegas no time soon again.. On Jan. 19, I purchased a groupon. Within one hour, my card was used fraudulently to purchase a $600 phone from groupon.

Yesterday, I purchased another groupon and within an hour, my card was used to make two purchases with other companies.

Strange coincidence or is Groupon's system compromised electronically or by unethical employees? I don't think I will be buying from Groupon again.

I bought the iphone 5 at Groupon on Jan 3 and it arrived 2 weeks later, when I begin to use it, it broke down in a week. At first I thought that I might fix it, and take it to a repair shop and people there told me that they can't fix it since it's badly damaged. I was shocked because I never dropped it or fell it into water and it looks just like new.

Then I went to the apple store trying to have it replaced, and the salesclerk told me they can't even replace it because it's not unlocked as they said, actually it's linked with another account which belongs to a Japanese! They can't do anything to the phone unless they find that Japanese woman.

I have written to Groupon several times for a refund but they keep saying that purchases after 14 days can't be refunded. It really annoyed me because some problems can't be found at once, and they have the responsibility to make sure the items they sell are as good as they describe. Now I can't get the phone fixed and can't get it replaced either, I can't do anything to it even the people in Apple store can't do anything, and 310 dollars is a lot of money to me, I'm feeling really disappointed.Hope the problem will be solved!

Groupon has a duty to protect it's customers. It's good reputation is based on the fact that it screens businesses before they are allowed to post deals on groupon. Groupon should have done due diligence and found out the many different aliases that Great Value Vacations operates under, The Lawsuit brought against Sceptre Tours by the DOJ, the F rating with the BBB and other fraudulent activity by said company under alias names. Not only should groupon no longer associate with said company, but said company should be barred from the travel industry entirely.Groupon needs to practice what it preaches within it's A+ BBB rating as well as its groupon promise and customer protection motto.

A full refund of the trip (November 2014) totaling $3558.48 ($2798 through Groupon) is not only requested but it is mandatory that Groupon practice good will and make a statement to other would be fraudulent companies that would try to do business on groupon. Groupon must only promote reputable companies and not misrepresent them or the deals they represent.

I purchased the Groupons on May 29th and was strong arm pressured into redeemed them on May 30th with the affiliated company Great Value Vacations which has several aliases with hundreds of outstanding complaints including Sceptre Tours, Dan Dooley Vacations, Aer Lingus and Global Consolidated Services (GCS Ltd). The business identity was misrepresented. Would groupon have made public knowledge that the company was actually Sceptre Tours I would never have made the booking with them.

Reviews were misrepresented on the groupon deal page. I actually thought the positive comments from Fodors were for the travel agent or that specific deal. That was not the case it was a general review on Rome and Tuscany, but was misleading.

The fine print and terms were changed. On several occasions I tried to access the groupon page after making an initial complaint with the company. As evidenced by different fine print terms on previous same groupons by the company Great Value Vacations, additional fees verbiage was included after the terms were modified.

Misrepresentation of Price - The $1999 value was actually only $1450 when priced out separately for single passenger. Hence the $1399 price is not that great of a savings and is a blunt lie of the $1999 value.
