Hawaiian Airlines, Inc. Reviews

  • Jun 27, 2014

HA CEO, Mark Dunkerley's claims that airline fees are not unfair is an insult to our intelligence. Indeed, just a couple years ago, his salary ranked 2nd under that of the CEO of Delta which was the highest - figure in the $8-10M range annually. As of 2013, MD's annual compensation is reported at $2.4M.

Dunkerley is fond of claiming how "tight" HA's costs and revenues are to justify the fees. Yet at the same time we witnessed his beyond-reason-and-"pono" (Hawaiian word for integrity and balance) compensation to Dunkerley (and senior executives of course), HA line people were having their salaries/hours cut. Around that time, HA also began a whole new series of fees to customers - bulkhead seating, checked baggage, extra leg room, etc.

Dunkerley loves to jusitify how HA needed the additional revenue based upon increased taxes, costs of service, etc.(failing to speak incongruency of HA's exec salaries) - YET, lo' and behold, HA over the last couple years has "expanded" service to a number of cities in China and Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, New Zealand, Australia, and now thirty (30) cities on the US mainland including the entire East Coast. Sure doesn't seem HA has lacked resources to accomplish that global expansion!!!

THEN, in the process, HA doubles its fare for inter-island travel in HI - meaning the very "locals" who represent the name "Hawaiian" find themselves priced out of being readily able to visit relatives on neighboring islands.

HA corporate greed at the top has "trashed" any resemblance of "aloha." In fact, the company as a corporation is SO FAR OUT OF INTEGRITY, it's marketing strategies branding itself as the "aloha airline" of the sky (having put Aloha Airlines out of business actually) - is nothing less than an insult to the people of Hawaii.

Dunkerley and his executive cohorts can take their multi-million annual compensation to the bank, of course, but I'll not fly with them again and find myself saddened whenever seeing its planes in the sky. Let's see Dunkerley justify to HA employees their less than adequate salaries while he walks away w/his millions!
