Heritage Motors Reviews

  • Mar 20, 2015

In May of 2013, I purchased a 2003 PT Cruiser from Heritage Motors in Casa Grande, AZ. In August of 2013, the PT Cruiser's engine mount broke and did damage to my axle. While coming up with the $2000 to repair the car, I had a conversation with Christie, who often handles the reception and payments. When I nicely explained that I would be late by a week on my payment, she became very nasty saying that they could sue me for taking the car to CA and that the car breaking down was my problem not hers. I was shocked.

In February of 2014, I made 2 payments to put me ahead. In March, Christie called me stating that my payment for March was due and when I explained I had made a payment to cover 2 months, she stated that was for the month of January and February. I questioned it, but still made a payment to avoid another conflict.

In June of 2014, I had more issues with my vehicle. I have done over $3500 in repairs on an $8000 vehicle and have only owned the car less than 2 years. I'm good about maintenance on the car and don't expect perfection for a car that is 11 years old, but it has become a money pit.

The extensive car repairs are less of an issue than the company's bookkeeping practices. In December 2014, I made a payment right before Christmas. I show payments made on time for months prior to December. In Januaray, Christie called saying I needed to make a payment. I called and left a message stating the date I made a payment. When I called in February 2015 - having missed my January payment due to illness - Christie was even more nasty to me, stating I had "not made a payment since Christmas and I owed her 3 payments." She also stated she would not accept any payment, unless all three months were paid in full. I told her that her payment records for the month of February would reflect no payment for January 24th and Feb 24th, there was no third month due. I made a payment around March 7th, 2015, equal to 2 month payment and clarified this was for January and February and Christie reiterated that, confirming it.

On March 18th, 2015, I received a call from Christie stating that I am two months behind and need to call her to make a payment ASAP. If my payment date is the 24th of the month, and I just caught up January and February on the 7th of March, and it is not March 24th yet - HOW am I now 2 months past due?!

I feel that their bookkeeping practices are shady and their customer service is horrible. I am glad that soon I will not be involved with them any further. I will be making sure all of my Arizona family and friends know what I have endured with this company and to avoid doing business with them.
