Holiday Inn Resort Bar Harbor - Acadia Natl Park Reviews

  • Jun 25, 2015

I guess (Holiday Inn Regency Hotel, Bar Harbor Maine) Holiday Inn does not publish reviews of guests who are unhappy. They keep saying I mentioned other hotel brands, so they will not publish this review. I did not refer to other "hotel brands" in my review. I think far less of the organization and feel the need to post my review other places. We purchased a full ocean view unit. I was told that it had a large fridge and mini kitchen area. There is no microwave. We started out in a room with a large fridge and were downgrade to a room with one big enough to put some small drinks in it. Our original room was on the fourth floor.

There is no a/c up there. The halls are hot and sticky feeling. We get in our room and it was sweltering hot. We turned on the A/C full blast and left for several hours. It was still sweltering when we got back. We called the front desk 3x for assistance. The man said he did not want to disturb his boss. I demanded to speak with him on the phone. His boss downgraded us to a room much lower in the building with more of a pool view, and much of the view is totally blocked by another building. The hot tub people stared directly into our room with the curtains open. The night manager said all would be rectified the next day. No phone call or messages.

They never planned to rectify anything. I paid for a much better room, and I got downgraded with no compensation. Avoid the lure of a full ocean view. You will not get one here unless you can deal with no A/C on the fourth floor. And, I was bitten by something as I slept. People do not want to itch and be eaten on their vacation! I assume the strange smelling fragranced smell in the room and hallways was something to kill either mold/mildew or the things that were eating me as I slept.
