Rip Off Fraud Poor to no service and when cancelled they state they have no point of drop of of equipment, then say we will put on hold for several months. Then they start billing again stating the cancellation charges will be over 300 dollars. They claim each customer agrees to a 2 year contract even when you move away.

Okay, so Hughesnet gives you a 'data allowance' (rip off alert!) for your home use. My usage renews on the 10th at midnight. Last night it's running slow and I check. It shows I've already gone thru 10 GB which is my measley little allowance. (10 days use) I'm not allowed to watch movies on Netflix or Hulu. If my neices or nephews come over they can't play online games. I call them and their solution is to NOT STREAM HD VIDEOS! So there solution to my internet problem. Is to USE THE INTERNET LESS. Then the SCAM kicks in. You have to PAY for more GB"S of data by BUYING TOKENS AT $5, 500mb, $9, 1GB and $16 2GB. SO OBVIOUSLY THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE SELLING YOU IS SUBSTANDARD SERVICE. IT IS SCAM TO FORCE YOU TO PAY MORE FOR YOUR INTERNET. If not you are subject to their 'fair use' policy which SLOWS DOWN YOUR INTERNET ACCESS TO 56K MODEM SPEEDS. They actually had the brass to tell me that I had used up 250mb in a half-hour while I was doing nothing but talking to tech on line. I WASN"T ACCESSING ANYTHING ONLINE DURING THAT HALF-HOUR. Next month I'm forced to go back to Comcast which is less horible. If you are at a fixed location you should not have to pay charges as if you are roaming. It should be the same as a hardline connection. Big cable annd internet in general is a fixed game but Hughesnet is the worst service I've ever had.

Hughesnet advertisements are very misleading, False, False, False, they advertise faster internet speeds than your standard carrier. They also lock you into long contracts like a cell phone even when you purchase their equipment. I would not recommend this service or company to anyone it is a complete ripoff! your better off using your samert phone for internet.

Just got HughesNet 3 days ago. I wanted the 10mbps speed. We were told by our salesperson AND the quality assurance people that there were NO LIMITS as far as usage and their would be NO THROTTLING at all. Well as soon as I started downloading big files, etc "Web Acceleration" got turned off. Called tech support and found out the SALES PEOPLE LIE! We will be getting our 300 back for equipment plus the taxes they charged us for first month (3 days) service! Going back to cable at a slightly lower speed but have unlimited bandwidth with no throttling.

Beware of HughesNet.com. There satellite internet service is always down. They never send anyone out to help when service is disrupted. They only allow you to talk to a computer generated customer service agent or someone who answers questions based on multiple choice q&a call scripts - meaning they never fix the problem. After 20 times in 3 months of spending time on the phone correcting the issue with HughesNet, only for them to upsell me more services that were unsatisfactory, I decided to cancel my account. When canceling my account with HughesNet.com, they shared with me that I would be charged a $400 cancelation fee and was responsible for shipping back there equipment. They do not accept equipment drop off or provide a service technician to pick up Equipment from your house. I mentioned to them that the technician who installed my equipment placed it too high on my house and I was unable to get this down. They told me to ask a friend or neighbor! So sad! On top of that, they said I had 45 days to mail the equipment back or I'd be charged another $300. Not to mention, they didn't send me the shipping box until 3 weeks after I canceled my account, leaving me less than 45 days to return their equipment that they installed on my house, out of my reach.

All in all, I paid $700 for an awful customer experience and service that never worked.

Unless you want crappy internet, awful customer service, and want to pay to cancel your crappy service...I suggest you don't use HughesNet.com. Worst experience ever!
