Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino Reviews

  • Jul 31, 2014

I was visiting the Hyatt for a business convention for 4 days. I’ll get right to the point, don’t come. We went to the casino for Texas hold em with about 7 other execs. The dealers (two of them) were downright rude, ignorant, and belligerent towards multiple members of the party. They went as far to curse out our group who was having fun telling us we could not celebrate a win or talk about a hand. They then tried to kick one of our players out for talking too loudly at the table. The situation went from bad to worse when the dealer stopped the game and threatened one of our execs and told him he had no manners.

We all decided that perhaps it was a bad night and chalked it up to two bad apples. Boy, were we wrong. I witnessed the craps dealers scold a 50 year old man for whistling when he won a bet. They told him if he whistled again to celebrate they would have security remove him.

Then the next night, a few of us played black jack. We were again belittled by dealers who seemed to act like they were doing us a favor and treated everyone like children in elementary school. At one point during the night, the dealer called a supervisor over to yell at a two men who "high fived" when they won. The players were warned that if they high fived again at the table, they would be asked to leave.

This type of behavior by an employee is not only unacceptable, it’s outrageous.

The Hyatt should be disgusted by this behavior by employee of theirs. They belittled multiple patrons, talked down to customers, and acted as if they were running a military camp. It obviously is something management tolerates since I witnessed it on different days, with different employees, and over different circumstances.

Also, the rooms (we were on the exec level) were not great. No bath tubs, a/c that didn’t work, two times we called to have our minibar unlocked (never did it), and the linens in the bathrooms look like they are from a motel 6.

The only bright side of this place was the location and the spa staff, but that doesn’t make up for the downright worst group of employees on a casino floor I have ever seen.
