I went to IbogaLife to get off opiates several months ago; its taken me this long to feel better and start taking action against these fools who pretend they want to help people but take advantage of innocent people at their weakest!

Aside from the lack of medical care and expertise and aside from the fact that i felt like i was withdrawing the entire time and for weeks afterwards, the two "men" who run this place are sexual predators!!! There was a big thing going on when i got there because a sixteen year old costa rican kid who was working for them (might i add - illegally working) was being taken advantage of (sexually) by the staff at ibogalife. they tried to cover this all up by firing their least important employee and blaming it on him. but i know child protection services has been called on robert payne. to make it all worse the entire time i was there dimitri mugianis was trying to screw girls and couldnt care less about my mental and physical well being

stay clear of this place. costa rica might sound attractive, but mexico is really the place for safe ibogaine centers. you can check out safe haven or genesis or i even hear ibogaine university is supposed to be good. do your research!

Man, disappointing that I got to write this. On and off drugs for over a decade & desperate I spoke to a friend who had traveled to Mexico for the miracle cure also called iboga treatment or ibogaine treatment. He had good results and it got him clean so I thought I'd give it a shot. I shoulda gone to Mexico but after a lotta research I decided to go to Iboga Life in Costa Rica. These guys man they claim to have a ton of experience and their website seemed legit.

I was coming off years of opiate use, suboxone, and occasional xanax. First of all things that dont even really matter is that i was picked up late from the airport which made me nervous, also because I was already feeling sick. Second is that the guy Robert who also goes by Bobby or something was probably the rudest person Ive encountered in some time and shouldnt be dealin with people in fragile emotional states. He repeatedly told me I was pretty much going to relapse when I left and that I shouldnt even try to quit smoking cigarettes, whch I had really wanted to as I had read before arriving that ibogaine can help with that as well. Michael was pretty much the same and at bobbys side the whole time not helping me or anyoen else feel better.

The worst of all of this was the actual experience. These guys do traditional ceremonies. I dont know if that matters but what I can say is that I could feel I was withdrawing the entire time. It was miserable and I was in so much pain. Everytime I said something I was told that I wasnt feeling withdrawals that it was trauma or whatever coming out of me. I continued to have post acute withdrawals for about four weeks after my expensive and almighty iboga ceremony. These guys seemed unconcerend that it wasnt working for me and offered me no help whatsoever.

Probably the most disturbing of all of this is that half of their staff was kids who had to have been under 18. There were always kids hanging around smokin joints and so called working. I didn't really get it and it made me feel uncomfortable.

My point is that these guys are scam artists claiming to know what they are doing and are possibly using minors for free labor. It's a scam. I know that this therapy can work as my friend who went to Mexico had good results but these guys only want your money.

the workers r out to get laid ! Truth

Sad to say but I'm not surprised at all. Matt who did his first treatment n was filmed by vice with these people ,he didn't stay clean for more than a month n they lied on show n said he was still Clean after 14 mths' --No ! try a month truthfully n right back to his drugs until they offered for him to work for them n give him another treatment this year so he's been there n doing the same thing acting like he's helping heal people and all the rituals while after A few months there he is fucking one of the dopefiend clients too .. And I'm sure she wasn't the first n won't be the only one.... It is all a scam they used matt because he grows weed for them n tells his lies to potential clients about how it cured him .plus has his mom trying to make money selling a book saying he was" cured"- again ... calling them heroes lol its brainwashing cause once these people do IBO then relapse they act like it still was a great thing n their one w nature and spiritual while still shooting up and still on whatever drugs they do-most of them----i can tell by the pictures they post once home' no pupils but still praises iboga 'its unreal.. I feel sorry for the significant others of these so called"Heroes " that play like they know god haha n they act like gods while trying to get sex anytime they can I know more about the guys n them having sex with others outta matt's own mouth,,, 'they r all addicts (sorry )they claim reformed ' scamming desperate addicts at there last resort to thinking they will get clean. matt is A lost cause sober or not he's so far gone mentally n now brainwashed from this even sober he's insane and since he's having sex with a fresh off ibogaine heroin addict he can't be too clean or sane . I guess no one thinks of HIV or hep c or that these women n men sell themselves for drugs before they get to the ibogaine experience. It may look nice cause of the weather n beaches but other than that its no vacation 'its a bunch of false hope n fake attention from these reformed addicts fucking the hopeless people at there last resort ..very sad n expensive for the most part no good result ..for long. Some will even move to the clinics n act like they work for them while still using in between. 'they claim to devote there life to bwiti 'when really they just are lying to themselves n think if they stay outta country or far from their home .they r safe .it doesn't work out for them either from what I know .. If u wanna get off herion 'get off it n deal with the pain ..bottom line

It's Not Meant to Be a Vacation

You're damn right it's no vacation - if you want a vacation, go take a vacation. If you want to fight for your life, take ibogaine and beat your opiate addiction. If you want the medical version, go right ahead and pay $10-15K in St. Kitts. The people there are excellent and will take good care of you. Don't have that? Me neither. Find something else. You don't work for free, traditional rehab isn't free, why should these people do their work for free, even if it is helping work. You ever see a doctor work for free? The doctor who does ibo treatments in St. Kitts posts a lot of pics on Facebook of his expensive vacations, fast cars and fancy parties. And God bless him! He earned it.

Sorry people had post-acute withdrawal after ibogaine. Not uncommon, especially if you were on a long acting opiate replacement prior to treatment (suboxone or methadone). Most people are told this ahead of time.

Never been to the clinic in Costa Rica, but would be shocked to hear that these accusations are true. Remember that these providers have developed a high profile (TV shows, documentary, Village Voice articles, etc.). Notoriety makes you vulnerable to attack. The anonymous posts on Ripoff Report do not constitute evidence against people with a long history of service helping people whom no one else wanted to help.
