I worked as a part-time driving instructor at Illinois Central College. I was constantly harassed by my supervisor Roger Brawdy for having a disabled parking placard which gave me a better parking spot then him. Roger would make remarks on how he hated minorities and women should not be allowed to drive trucks. I cringed at his remarks and complained to the coordinator Steve Bilbrey. He told me to not complain and that Roger is retiring here shortly. Steve also stated that he would have me fired if I went to the higher ups and complained. I bit my lip and just concentrated on my students which all said that I was the best instructor there. I was yelled at and cursed in front of students for things the other instructors have done. Roger Brawdy stated he would get me fired. Well he did I was accused of making remarks that I never said and they just said it's easier to fire you than talk to the other students. They didn't even let me defend myself. The next day some of the students called me at home and stated that Roger Brawdy and an other instructor Ken Baker said I was fired because I was a racist and made racist remarks about certain people. I never made such remarks and then they said they let it go on for months because Roger wanted me fired. Illinois Central College is a horrible place to go for truck driving students. The instructors they have there are horrible and they will pass anyone no matter how dangerous they are behind the wheel of a tractor trailer. I am a disabled veteran and Roger Brawdy said Illinois Central College should have never hired a cripple to train students.
