Instant Checkmate has been billing me every month $22.86 for 8 months. I signed up for a one time report feb 1st 2014. I got one report. I have not used the service since that day. I've had some major stress with family and my health the past year and have not been monitoring my charges like I usually have in the past. I started back monitoring my charges about a week ago and thats when I saw the charge. I called their office. My account has had no activity on it since Feb 01 2014 the day I signed up, yet have been charged every month $22.86 for a membership I didn't authorize. This past month that charge made me incurr a $37.00 overdraft fee from my bank. After an hour and a half on the phone with a representative for the company, they said they would give me 4 months of payments back and would cancel my membership. I couldnt waste anymore time on the phone with them so I reluctently said I was satisfied and hung up. I however am not satisfied. Thats robbery.

As a licensed private investigator I am always looking for "Information Brokers" that I can use. This site WILL PROVIDE YOU INFORMATION, but it is not completely accurate.

To prove to myself how good their information is, I “ran” myself and the results showed arrests and other information that did not belong to me.

A private person using their information could make a big mistake in assuming it is TRUE and CORRECT. If you do decide to deal with this company consider yourself warned!!

Once I found out the lack quality of the their product, I also found out, “THERE IS NO REFUND”.

HOW TO GET A REFUND FROM INSTANT CHECKMATE

Just tell the company you plan on doing a charge back and they'll refund your money. They know if they get a charge back it will cost them $25 so they'll lose money.

I filled out for a 5 day trial period. Charged $1 then 3 days later charged $29.63. My trial wasn't even over yet. The information they are providing is not accurate.

Instant Checkmate is not as advertised.

Their claims are very misleading. They claim to have "up to date" information. They claim to have prison records. and then after you sign up, if you want to find out the important information, for instance any sex offenses they have on record, you have to pay more money. They try tricky advertising just to get your money. stay away. you will not find any current information on anyone. I searched people I KNOW have a big criminal record and nothing showed up. It's a scam. They pull their information from public record, which is free and RARELY up to date. Their commercials claim that you can check the background of people you have just met so you can have peace of mind. This is very untrue. They should be held accountable for this false advertisement. They are not a background checking service as they claim.

"KEEP YOUR FAMILY SAFE RUN A BACKGROUND CHECK TODAY"

That quote was taken directly off of their homepage (in big bold letters). They DO NOT provide background checks. They just want to charge you more money for additional public record information. FALSE ADVERTISING.

"Accurate and up-to-date people information...

We spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to keep the information we provide as accurate and up-to-date as possible, so you know you can trust our data. Background checks have been seen on popular networks such as CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, and many more!"

Again, FALSE ADVERTISEMENT.

Stated on ripoffreport by another user: "They advertise to give you background info for individuals, but only after you have given them your card and charged over 22.95 you find out to get detail info you have to pay an additional 19.95. Of course in very fine print I am sure they cover themselves, but I warn you don't waste your money like I did!" This previous report on rip off reported by Winston in salem north carolina is exactly what i went through and sums it up perfectly. Please do not waste your time or money. I called them and was able to get my money back when i claimed they did not provide the services they advertised. First they wanted to refund me only half or so and let me continue to use the site for the month. In the end, I did receive a full refund with a supervisor's approval after being told they cannot provide up to date information if it's not up to date in the public record. They told me this 3 times at least, but they had no argument against my other claims. They know they are misleading in their advertisement. Which is exactly why I got my money back. I did use paypal, so if they weren't going to give me my money back, i would have disputed it with paypal for services not as described. There needs to be a class action suit for the people who were not able to get their money back. And their commercials need to be pulled from television completely.

This company draws you in by making false claims to deliver various types of information as stated on their website: indepth background checks. marraige records, divorce records, location history addresses, criminal records, and more.

To begins with they charge you a monthly fee of $22.90 (some odd cents) for just logging into their system. This will only get you information you most likely already have; name, DOB, possibly a phone number. That's it. If the info is even accurate is anyones guess.

This info is meant to BAIT you into paying yet another fee to actually obtain the information you signed up for in the 1st place. For another $19.99 and some other odd added fees... you get a few addresses (whether accruate or not) past residences. A possible lien. No criminal info. You'll et a list of possibles which have nothing to do with the person you are investigating. We've used Intellus before to do background checks on possible employees, contractors we were thinking about hiring and had pretty good sucess. The only reason we used this SCAM website was because it was highly rated. Well I am pretty sure that rating came directly from InstaCheckMate. Probably a website they put up to advertise and toute their own services as being better. No doubt.

The person we were investigating had known DUI priors, liens, criminal felony convictions and tax evasion. Mutiple divorces, etc etc etc...... which we ended up finding by doing a little more digging on the internet ourselves. Took me 1/2 a day but didn't cost me a thing.

Do NOT fall prey to this company. Insta Check Mate is a major SCAM!! DO not wast your $$$. In the end I cancelled the services, less they continue charging me a monthly fee for a bit fat NOTTA DAM THING.

The customer service agent gave me some lame excuse as to why they can only provide certain information they glean from the internet. Well.... let me tell you... as a web savvy developer, who comes with a pretty good understanding on how search engines work..... this tells me their site, their search capabilities are slim to none. They've just managed to have a good (SCAM) marketing plan. Nothing more.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE..... DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! They will not refund.. period!!!

They offer a free trial but they start charging Prior to end of trial. It doesn't matter if you call to cancel. Did it before and kept getting charged. Very disappointed with their useless internet business that shows you nothing relevant. They're thieves in my opinion.

I tried Instant Checkmate because I wanted to research background information on someone who had taken advantage of a vulnerable relative. Not only did Instant Checkmate not provide me with any information, I was charged over $100 because I neglected to read the fine print. In big bold letters it give you a price on what pricing option you would prefer (which type of account you would like to sign up for), and in very small print it gives you a much higher price almost 10 times that amount that you will actually be charged. I happened to balance my check book that day and that is when I noticed all of the charges. I called to discuss this with Instant Checkmate. After spending about 30 minutes on the phone with the customer service rep repeating the same thing, "you agreed to the charges for the services we provided, " and being put on hold 4 times for the rep to talk to his manager, I was only credited a small amount of the charges so I still ended up spending over $70.00 for no information at all! I do not recommend this site to anyone. If you still want to use their service I highly recommend you read the fine print thoroughly cause the prices are outrageous and like me you likely will not obtain any more information then what you would get if you looked up someone in the white pages, which is free!

I did my research and found this company online that offered "Full Background Check Instantly" and signed up. I needed to know information such as; past addresses, phone numbers, employers, criminal history and so on. I was charged $22 and some change for an unlimited background search for one month. This meant that I had access to as many reports as I wanted for one full month. Now the process takes quite awhile as it shows that it's "searching database" for numerous things such as the things above that I listed I needed. I logged into the account to find that the only thing it had found was one previous address of mine from 5 years ago and that was literally it. Nothing more, nothing less than one previous address. So I noticed the option for the "premium upgrage" for information that "cannot be disclosed on basic account" for an extra fee of $19.99 and I went ahead and purchased. I was very unhappy about needing to upgrade to view this information after already paying $22 to view this information and finding nothing more than an address, but being as though I really needed this information, I went ahead with the upgrade. And guess what? Nothing more was listed. I paid another $20 for nothing more in this so called "premium upgrade" to view more private information. So now I've pad $43 to view one address. That's it. I have been on the phone with their customer service for the last 30 minutes. I've been hung up on twice. I am so upset. This is false advertisement. As soon as you search this place online it shows "full background check instantly" with information on so much, but as soon as you pay, you get nothing.

INSTANT CHECKMATE IS A SCAM

Instant checkmate is nothing more than a scam to steal your money. Their database revealed nothing more than I could get for free. When I called to cancel they initially refused. I reminded them that I will do a charge back on my credit card and this changed their mind. They refunded me the full $23.

If you are unsure of the company you are dealing with always use a virtual credit card from Citi or BOA. You can get the dollar limit so if they attempt to charge more the authorization will be denied.

  • Dec 7, 2014

FALSE ADVERTISEMENT.

I asked full refund but they offered just 1/2. I told them that I would report to credit card company then they made full refund .

You will get nothing but very basic information with $22.90 of basic membership.

  • Aug 30, 2014

I only used this company to see what employers would no doubt see when checking my criminal record. Only to find out the exact same information they had already told me 5 min's before paying 25 dollars. It not only said nothing about my record, but was wrong about several aquantences having a record. I got absolutely no information for the money I spent and was completely ripped off. DO NOT use this site. It will not help you, will not give you any information, and will not show you anything that you did not know already.

Biggest scam I've ever dealt with. Even after calling twice one of the operators was really nice while telling me to use a different computer program, the other (Bobbie) was a total....WELL b**** is the only word that coms to mind. Nobody helped me with anything, except for saying in laymens terms that I got Fu++ed over and there was nothing I could do about it. I was already sceptical before useing this site. Will never risk it again,,,Thanks ssooo much Instant Check Mate,,, for teaching me not to trust companys like yours!! Go F yourself!!!!

This web site is a SCAM!

By paying a monthly fee, they offer any person information, without the consent of the target. Unfortunetelty they do NOT provide correct or valid information. Most of their info is unverified and FALSE.

Although they disclaim that the info cant be used as a employment tool etc, the given info is a direct reputation destruction.

To top it off, they also advertize A Company that is called reputationsaver.com, who will also charge you to remove all and any negative infomation about you.

BAIT and SWITCH is ILLEGAL. Put that in your report.

This site is complete Rip Off

Totally Useles and Outdated Info

Don;t waste your money!

I paid for the $1 trial memebership which immediately was charged the reg fee of close to 24.00. Once they have your credit card number they will charge you 19.99 for each individual you search---that is for additional info other that address and DOB. They call this a Premium Search Information in the premium search is totally outdated. Marriage licenses, divorce records, misdeameanor and felony charges I knew of a person were not in there. Some info over 5 yrs old.

Instant Checkmate.com is a rip off. I was charged $65.00 for the first use. I'm reporting them to States Attorney General.

  • Jul 24, 2015

Instant checkmate. Com Paid $11-12 for month unlimited search and over the course of the next week or two, they continuously ran random charges through the card I used without permission or authorization. No information was obtained that I could not have gotten thru a white pages search. Inaccurate and minimal to no information with continuous fraudulant charges. I was unable to reach the phone number provided, it was fisconnected and overseas even though their reported address is in Las Vegas NV

It was supposed to be a month unlimited background checks. Less than two weeks later, they are still running fraudulent charges thru the bank. I have only done 2 reports as the reports are worthless and contain incomplete and unupdated information. Paid a premium payment for criminal and marriage info and got neither when there should have been info present, since person is known to have criminal record and marriages. Finally had bank stop multiple payments and filed fraud complaint. Phone number given is overseas, not in Vegas, and not in service.

  • Jul 21, 2015

Basically a useless service. There is more information on a individual through almost any search engine than what they provide. False advertising gets you to sign up but if you want any usefull information you have to spend more money and even the there is little or no information on individuals.

  • Jul 20, 2015

The company charges for information found free of charge on different search engines, nothing I can not find and then charges more for extra information and even then the information is still the same.

  • Jul 17, 2015

Company promises a background report on individuals then after charging a nominal fee gives general information and wants to charge you again for the information you already paid for.

  • Jul 8, 2015

I signed up and paid, via PayPal, for a one month trial of service from Instant Checkmate. I cancelled the service within the one month time frame, as required.

After the cancellation, I was billed for an additional month. After spending time with both PayPal and Instant Checkmate, I was advised by both that no further charges would be made.

Now I have to wait three days, for what should be an immediate refund, for PayPal to credit my PayPal account; not the original source of funds. Instant Checkmate said I had TWO accounts, not the ONE I established and cancelled.

Reconsider using Instant Checkmate's "One Month Trial" offer as you may be signed up for more than one account. Reconsider using PayPal for ANY reoccurring charges to anyone.

  • Jul 2, 2015

I joined to do a background check on myself. Instantcheckmate promises you can find out what information is out in public domain for others to see. I was curious about what I'd find/.

Some basics were correct, they did not have my marrage or divorce. It gave me very little. I seached a guy I dated who was not who he said he was.

To get his background check they wanted another $19.99 for his records.

This is a total rip off. I dont even know if I can cancel. Ugh....

  • Jul 1, 2015

Talk about a rip off! Total bate and switch. They say they are going to give you all kinds of information on people that you look up. You have to pay to see the report and then when you open it, it has no real information. I could find more information just doing a google search.

After you pay they ask if you want to pay more money to get it in pdf form.

Then, you open the report with no information and they tell you if you want more, you have to pay another $20?!?!?!?!

Do not waste your money. If you did get this subscription, make sure you call right away and cancel it or they will continue to charge you!

  • Jul 1, 2015

This company had an advertising pop-up that stated that they provide very thorough background check information for a fee of around $26.00. I decided to check its accuracy by first submitting MY name. It took forever and when I finally received the info, it was NOT accurate. They then stated that to get further info I needed to pay an additional charge . the information I received was not only inaccurate, but not even close to the amount of data that was originally promised with the $26 fee. Who knows how many more additional charges they would ask for. I certainly wasn't going to pay MORE for more bogus info. The information I did receive from them could have easily been obtained off the internet for FREE! Don't waste your time or money with them. They will just keep baiting you for more money!

  • Jun 26, 2015

I signed up for the one-month subscription to Instant Checkmate for unlimited reports during the one month period

Instant Checkmate advertises that they access all of these public records and are basically a "one-stop shop" for searching public records. They tout criminal records, traffic citations, sex offender information, marriages and divorces, other licenses, email addresses, phone numbers, etc. Specifically "information you can't even find on Google".

So I ran a search on myself (of course) and it returned nothing that isn't already out there and DOES appear in a Google search and in fact, Google has way more information about me than Instant Checkmate! Basically, I got name and aliases, age, city and state, criminal history, traffic citations, and sex offender information.

Oh - and your horoscope! They list what astrological sign the person is, describes the personality of that sign, and you can run a comparison of that sign with another sign to see if they are a good match for each other. Are you kidding me???!!!

I wanted the detailed information that they said they provide. I wanted marriage and divorce records, bankruptcies, other court cases, and so on. None of that was there. This was a bare-bones nothing you don't already know or can't find easily somewhere else report with the added bonus of a horoscope.

If I wanted the "hard to get a hold of information" which I guess is the marriage, divorce, birth, death certificates, email address, etc., I had to get the "premium" report which costs an additional one-time charge of $20 (every time you order it). They also charge you an extra $2 if you want a PDF of the report.

I'm fine with paying for the information, but having to pay an extra $20 to get the information they tout (and you have to pay it every time you want that premium information) is a total bait and switch. And the only way you can cancel is to call them which results in them trying to sell you more, convince you not to go, and not give you a refund.

Don't do it. It isn't worth it.

  • Jun 23, 2015

Offers Background searches and reports. Nothing but a Scam to take your money. They do not deliver any service or information you can't find out yourself. All they do is get your credit card information and keep charging you for worthless information. Stay Away from this Rip Off Company.

  • May 28, 2015

This is a totally fake people search site. Four charges were made to my credit card within 5 minutes. What very little info that was given was incorrect. Obvious scam.

  • May 28, 2015

Bait 'n switch tactics noted by others, and mixed quality of results obtained. Some accurate, some very mixed up in identities of known people. They did provide information as promised, most of which was accurate, but just overpriced and over-hyped. Each report included constant grubbing for more money for another level of data or another convenience feature (pay extra to download as .pdf, for instance.)

What torqued me off was the apparent reselling of my email address and subsequent spamming. Fortunately, I used a masked email account dedicated only to this one vendor, as well as a masked credit card, so I know this to be the only possible origin of this FLOOD of emails. Some were blatant spoofs of false orders from, allegedly, Home Depot and Amazon.

Some these emails may actually be fraudulent: a number of false orders alledgedly from Amazon.com or Amazon Prime. They included Amazon's Registered logo, and general appearance. The hello was to my masked email (before the @):

Amgen Inc's closely watched new cholesterol drug, Repatha, has been recommended for approval in Europe, putting the U.S. drugmaker ahead in a race with rival Sanofi SA. Repatha, or evolocumab, belongs to a new class of cholesterol-lowering drugs known as PCSK9 inhibitors that have the potential to drastically reduce the risk of heart attacks when used in addition to standard treatment. France's Sanofi and its partner, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc, are developing a rival drug called Praluent, and both treatments have been running neck-and-neck in the sprint to market. Neither has approval in the all-important U.S. market yet. The European Medicines Agency, on Friday, recommended approval for Repatha to be used in adult patients with hypercholesterolaemia or mixed dyslipidaemia and aged 12 years and over with homozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia. (bit.ly/1FrWu5K) Recommendations for marketing approval by its Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) are normally endorsed by the European Commission within a couple of months. Numerous trials have shown that PCSK9 inhibitors significantly lower blood levels of "bad" LDL cholesterol, but widespread use will hinge on whether the drugs are proven to prevent heart attacks, other serious heart problems. The experimental drugs are antibodies designed to target the PCSK9 protein that maintains LDL cholesterol in the bloodstream. They work differently from statins, which block the liver's production of LDL cholesterol in the first place.

Though I am aware that all "people information" services are flawed, and according to common sense, must be incomplete as not all information is "public" in some states....I must confess that THIS particular Company takes the cake. It is the absolute WORST service available when trying to obtain information on a person. Their tactics of outright lying, deceptive "leads", bait and switch, etc., are overwhelming enough that I felt compelled to file this report.

I am a current member of Beenverified and have used 3 different people search services. Of all the others I've tried, BeefVerified has at least "some" correct information and they at least keep their tricks to a minimum...but InstantCheckmate is shameless. Their initial come-on is "instant background information" and "full access" to all kinds of "sensitive information", of which they advertise the results are "Graphic" and will "shock" you.

The only thing that shocked me was their lack of informaiton in most cases and the outright tricks they will use to get more money.

Here are some highlights of what you can expect - at least what happened when I joined:

You initially search for someone and get "redirected" to their website. From there, they will show some very impressive "hurry-up-and-wait-while-i-search-for-you" bars in which they show how elaborate their searches are. They prolong this misleading wait for at least 5 minutes, making it appear that they are obtaining information from their countless list of sources. Then they compile...another minute or two. Then they are locking your report to make it safe and secure (another minute). Then you have to click off the checkmarks stating you understand the nature of what shocking info you are about to witness. Oh please, give me a break. Any future searches only take a few seconds, so why the drama?

Then, of course, you must enter your credit card to actually SEE this report. No surprise there.

If you try and exit out, a pop-up appears saying you can have "FULL ACCESS TO UNLIMITED REPORTS FOR ONE MONTH FOR $1).

So, being the sucker you are, you join.

Of course it all says "unlimited searches", "access full reports", get everything, period, no surprises, no hidden fees.....blah blah blah.

So, you succumb and enter your cc

Only to find out they really mean 5 days....not a month. No surprise there either. Oh, and ALL information which matters and which is supposed to be included is just too shocking for someone to see without paying more.

Then, your amazing, confidential, detailed report appears. Or should I say, a page pops up with the name you searched for at the top. All data in the report is so "SHOCKING" and "GRAPHIC" that you will have to pay to get access to the PREMIUM report to actually see it.

So you try another name. Someone you've searched for on other people search sites and who's data is consistent across them all.

oops....InstantCheckmate either can't find them or finds someone totally unrelated to your search.

Well, you now realize you don't exist, you have no relatives, your birthday is now "unknown", you've never owned anything, have no sex offenders near you, but that's only because they don't know your addresses. You have no phone, no kids, no property. And everyone else is in the same boat. Or maybe it's just too SHOCKING to find out your last address! Shivers up and down my spine.

You decide to quit. You call and get put on hold for a long time. Then the rep who answers, who obviously just started his job 5 minutes ago can't find your credit card info, so you get on hold again. After waiting another 10-20 minutes, you've finally opted out and hopefully, your credit card won't be billed again.

These are only the highlights, the rest of the encounter was so shocking and graphic you may not be able to handle it, so I'll spare you.

Trust me, I've been using sites like these for a long time and this one should be labled "for entertainment purposes only". Unless, of course, I don't exist, or I have no more relatives, no public information is available for me anymore, I don't own any property or business and never have, also no one i've ever found before exists anymore and their records are also wiped clean.

To sum up, save your money. You're better off yelling out your kitchen window "HEY! ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT JOHN SMITH OVER THERE?!" than you are at joining this joke of a service. I can't believe that anyone has actually paid them for more than their trial period. I also can't help but wonder how many relationships have ended because someone may actually take their information as actual facts about that person. Shameless. Useless. Should be illegal to operate such a deceptive service.

  • May 11, 2015

Company does not perform as advertised. Data reporting was inaccurate and incomplete. When advised, they refuse to refund charges made to my VISA account

  • May 5, 2015

I'm going to keep this very to the point.

I didn't use the site to gain any information; but only to remove myself from their directory. Since I removed myself almost exactly 30 days ago, I've received 30 spam email to the masked email address I only used for that website. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to tell where they came from.

Long story short, if you want to remove your name, or even use the shady service, use a masked email or you're going to have your email sold to a marketing agency.

  • May 1, 2015

I purchased a background criminal report 1 time on the site http://www.instantcheckmate.com/ and the report was absolutely worthless. I was ready to take the hit for falling for a ridiculous online scheme to get charged for providing nothing but instant checkmate continued to charge me $30 a month for their service. I noticed that I was charged the day before for this service I called within 12 hours and they would NOT refund my money that they just charged me for this month or the last month. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they said that it doesnt matter who I speak with, their policy is to not refund anyone anything from their website.

Not only is this a poor business practice but this is a horrible way to run a business. For them not to refund me for a service that they just charged me for 12 hours ago is ridiculous.

  • Apr 18, 2015

I received an email in my inbox from this company, claiming that it is the most authoritative site to do back round checks on people. It advertised that people, in general, are "amazed" by the info obtainable, and, in fact, people wonder if it's even legal to show this much info.

So, I went in, out of concern that there might be "criminal" misinformation available about me. I clicked the botton to allow for a payment of $9.87. And looked at the info they have about me. The phone number was incorrect, and so was a lot of other info. There was an option offered to continue to investigate three other people they named, for no additional charge.

I searched my deceased sister. They recognized her as deceased, but, even with her correct DOB and Death date , they had her as having passed on 20 years older than she was at her death....their system apparently cannot do basic math.

My step mother has been deceased for quite a number of years, yet the site indicated she was still living, at the tender age of 113.

I then searched on my ex husband....very fertile terrain. There were no criminal records for him, even though he was arrested and convicted of trying to strangle me...I know, I was there. He was arrested several other times after that, all within the past five years, for stalking, breaking and entering, and violating restraining orders. None of these felonies were indicated, either.

And, although they had speeding tickets listed for him, same county, same man, and prior to his being arrested for passing a stopped school bus, the stopped school bus charge was not listed, either.

So, if you're counting on this site to provide accurate info on potential dating partners, or for the hiring of non-criminal employees, think again. The info is grossly inaccurate, and sorely lacking in important details, as well.

I did manage to find a phone number to cancel my membership. When I called, they did agreed to reverse the charge of $22.95. I had only approved a charge of $9.87. They absolve themselves totally of any misinformation or lack of important info, claiming it's not their fault, and they had some ridiculous excuse for the additional charge being made to my credit card. They have assured me they will send me an email recognizing the reimbursement, but, it might take as many as twenty-four hours to arrive, and it might be directed to my spam.

I would never recommend this website for anything. If the refund is not forthcoming, I'll update this review.

I responded to what I thought was a newspaper report. It turned out (after the fact) to be a cleverly disguised ad.

I agreed to a one time search for a fee of $22.86. Upon doing my taxes I discovered that I had been billed consecutive months subsequently - even though the agreement was for a one-time credit card authorization only.

  • Apr 2, 2015

For a single backgraound check, we have been charged $22.86 every month for the past year. If you don't read the fine print, you will sign up for a lifetime membership.

  • Apr 1, 2015

There are monthly fees, which they are not clear about. SO, if you think you are paying just one time for a $22.86 background search on someone, and you don't look at your credit card bill, a year later you will find that you paid over $250 for the year for that one cheap search.

I don't like hidden fees, so I won't use them again.

Instant Checkmate continue to remove funds from your bank account long after you have cancelled and received written confirmation of your cancellation. They just hope you won't notice their cash removal. Theft, pure & simple.

  • Mar 20, 2015

Liears, ripoff, after paying for one month I ran a sample test on my self, they came up with everyone but me and kept charging more for something they already charged!!!and you can't get a refund for they make it impossible to track them down and also they keep track of your info of % of use you collect I highly recomend notto allow them to rip you off we need to stop these theives from anyone more to get RIPPED OFF.

This on line site took $205.00 that I did not authorize. I went on and filled the forms out then when I found out it was not free I stopped filing out their form. The next thing I noticed that they were taking money dirrectly from my account as you will see they did to others. BEWARE these people are cyber crooks. They asked for your C.C. info just to verify you are who you say you are. Beware they start taking money right off and you get no notification they are doing so.

  • Mar 2, 2015

I wanted to do a one time check on a person and the "recommended package" Instant Checkmate offered was $22.86. I took their recommendation but didn't see the microscopic print next to it that indicated I'd be charged every month until I cancelled.

This is a deceptive and misleading website that then posts the charges to my credit card in such a way that I didn't perceive it was from that purchase. They make it look like a bank charge.

When I asked for a refund they refused, although I did get the credit card company to dispute and refund four month of the 15 months I've been duped. That's over $300 dollars I paid them because of their deceptive website.

Beware and avoid INSTANT CHECK MATE the background service that claims to be able to provide any and all info on other Americans.

They purport to be an honest,, confidential background checking service. They are just a trolling apparatus for using your credit cards to begin a monthly payment service.

They provide no useful information that cannot be found by other free means on the Internet. They infer the service is free until one has invested so much time on their site you realize your really only paying a private search engine. After making what looks like a one time fee you discover the order has been charged to your credit card as a monthly billing service. The information they provide is useless unless you are willing to committ to several hundred $$$$ contract. It would be easier to hire a private detective.

It is difficult to cancel your monthly subscription after using them just, once.

stay away from this scam!

They promise full background reporting on anyone including arrest records, personal informaton etc.Every thing but persons name and address is an extra 19.99.The sight is a hoax and a money grabberI would recommend you not using it.

  • Feb 23, 2015

I signed up for one report and this company won't stop charging my card! I had to cancel my credit card and get a new account number, do not sign up for their services, their information is inaccurate and wrong.

  • Feb 22, 2015

ridiculous waste of time

I sat and watched progress bars promising to give me information for over 20 minutes, only to be told at the end of the process that I needed to pay. That could have been stated up front. Instead, the site wastes time trying to hook customers into paying by making them wait. From the other reviews here, the information isn't even accurate, and is costing people jobs. The world is fucked, and crooked idiots like Instant Checkmate are a big part of the reason.

  • Feb 14, 2015

After you sign up and pay to see the information they say they have, you get almost no information at all.

Then, they try to get you to pay for a Premium Account to see more info. If there even is any.

It's a total scam.

  • Feb 13, 2015

A one time charge turned into a monthly charge with a total of $228.60 for one report received. Unfortunately I was not getting my visa statements to my email like they should have been and they charged me every month since March 2014 until now 2-12-15. Saying you have to call to cancel their monthly charge. Total scam. This should be illegal

  • Feb 8, 2015

I used a company called Instant Checkmate to try and find information on an old family member. They promised lots of useful information. The site went through a whole series of supposed downloads and searches while displaying a progress bar. After I made the fee payment I was shown the very bare bones information that I was able to find for free on my own. Then a promise to open up access to a lot more files for an extra fee. A total rip off.

Got charged 29.63 to my account on the fifth day, when it says when you sign up, cancel by the fifth day, Whne I called I had no trouble cancelling the membership but when I questioned the charge, I was told that they charge you at the end of the fifth day (I called around 9 p.m. on the fifth day) . I questioned again and was told a 50% refund was the most that could be done.i agreed and hung up. Then I called back (just to see what a different agent would say), I did not give my name this time and just flat out asked if the charge was supposed to come after the fifth day, and this agent told me a different story, that you have to cancel BEFORE the fifth day.

  • Jan 23, 2015

USER BEWARE The advertisement is for one month. Read the fine print it is a rotating monthly charge. Check your credit card . I used it once last August and noticed a 22.86 charge on my credit card in Dec and looked back to see I had been charged each month. When I called to complain they removed the last month charge but was told to read the read the billing information where it states the memebership will automatically renew if not cancelled.

  • Jan 23, 2015

They lead you to believe that you are signing up for a free 5 day trial but they charge your account monthly .

  • Jan 19, 2015

I tried to cancel my trial membership with Instantcheckmate.com. Instead of canceling the membership they actually coerced me into signing up for 5 more services. The man speaking on the phone could barely speak English so I really didn't know what I was signing up for and how much the charges were going to be. I attempted to call the same number right back and it was no longer able to receive calls. I don't know if Instantcheckmate.com is behind this or a third party business intercepted the call, but it all just doesn't look right.

  • Jan 12, 2015

The information they provide is not precise and does not go beyond public information on popelar social networks.

  • Jan 12, 2015

I signed up with this company to find out some background onformation on my former employer and co-workers who I am sueing. When I put the names into the info box, the only thing I got back was their address, prior addresses for the past 10 years, phone number, birthday, sexual predetors who lived around them, their zodiac sign & who they would be compatible with based on that zodiac sign. I was looking for real backgrond information. It costs $22.83 a month and you get garbage youcan find on the net for free, if you know what you are doing. I have emailed them and asked for my money back and to be taken out of their embership rolls. Do not waste your money on this web site. I found out all the info I had to on my ex boss & co-workers. I just had to do it the old fashsioned way. Next time I will read the Rip Off reports before I sign up. Buyer beware.
