Jamie Katz doing business as ""J Edwards Mortgage"" stole $25,000 from me in Bulgaria when he promised to close on a loan for a hotel I was buying there. As soon as he found out that the loan was not going to close, he conned my parter's attorney into giving him $25,000 in my cash and quickly left the country. The written agreement that we had was that if the loan doesn't close, he wouldn't get paid. Instead, he took my money and left so quickly that he even left most of his belongings in his hotel room!
I found out later from a friend of his friend that for years he was having bad dreams about people coming in through the window of his apartment to try to kill him, as in fact could have really happened because in Bulgaria, life is cheap.
I myself was overwhelmed with other things in my life at the time, and I knew that it would cost about $20,000 to just go after him for this scam that he pulled on me, so I did nothing about it. But thanks to Rip Off Report, we at least now have the opportunity to spread the word about scam artists like this online without having to pay lawyers thousands of dollars.
