Newsmax Magazine has hijacked my credit card twice, signing me up for a scam subscription that I never agreed to. I do not know how they acquired my credit card information.
When I discovered the first scam, I called their customer service and demanded a cancellation and a promise that they would NEVER renew my subscription. Just recently, I discovered another subscription. This time, I went through AMEX and put a permanent block on Newsmax.
These people operate on the fringe of legality. They pretend to be a legitimate publisher, they do deliver a magazine, and they communicate with the "subscriber". The problem is with the way they scam their subscribers into subscriptions. They are counting on the probability that most people will not notice the charge on their credit card or bank statements. Strictly speaking, they are probably legal ... but they are a parasite on the population.
My suggestion is that the cooperation of banks and credit card companies be enlisted, to inform their account holders of this shady enterprise, and this would probably put an end to Newsmax.
