Needs to retire!

This person is as bad as they get. She is a hired gun and works for the highest biding attorney. I am sure she posts the positive responses to these posts. She has numerous complaints on other websites. Beware! She is a disgrace to the social work profession.

To the parents and children of Louisiana,

FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH THE STATE BOARD OF SOCIAL WORK EXAMINERS - ONLY THROUGH THAT ORGANIZATION CAN MS. KAREN BE CENSURED, AND POSSIBLY LOSE HER LICENSE!

This is the first time I have ever written a complaint on the public Internet. But, Karen Van Beyer is SO BAD, SO INCOMPETENT, AND SO DESTRUCTIVE TO FAMILIES I feel the need to post this for all to read, and take notice.

Karen Van Beyer is not a "doctor" in the sense she pretends. Yes, she has a PhD in education, and is a licensed social worker (LCSW) in the state of Louisiana. Therefore, as a licensed social worker, she must adhere to the general principles and ethical guidelines - which can be found at www.labswe.org. So, for those folks out there who believe you have been wronged by Ms. Van Beyer (which I and my daughter unfoortunately have), I encourage you to take a moment, go to the web site, print out, complete, and send in a COMPLAINT FORM to: Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners Attention: Ethics Committee 18550 Highland Road Suite B Baton Rouge, LA 70809. Their phone is: (225) 756-3470.

Or, call their office. My experience speaking with this office was very, very positive. After I retold my story of Ms. Karen, I was STRONGLY encouoraged to file a complaint.

My situation and dealings with Ms. Van Beyer were so bad, and so aggregious, that several neighbors expert in the field took me aside, and pointed me to the "rules and regulations" so that I would then become educated on what Ms. Karen's obligations were to her patients. Here's a brief summary of the kinds of things you need to know:

Ms. Van Beyer can't solicit your business outside of the role she is asked to assume for your engangement - this would be a "dual relationship" and a big, big ethical violation. She can't promote her own business agenda using her position as a springboard. She must hold your information confidential. She must not knowingly make false statements. She must investigate thoroughly, and competently issues of importance. She must cooperate with other professionals. She must explore alternative causes and reasons for actions prior to making subjective statements (which she is prone, and known, to do). She must provide you with all copies of ORIGINAL notes, reports, etc. as part of your file when you request such information from her - in a timely manner. I believe if she fails to provide you with your records, this is also a HIPPA violation for Ms. Karen. And, MOST IMPORTANTLY, she must ALWAYS maintain the perspective, and reach conclusions within Civil Code 32/34 "the best interest of the child". This is just a brief list - and one close to me as Ms. Karen breached every single one of these standards in my case, with immediate and unfortunately long term impact to my daughter.

She is incompetent - and gorssly negligent in her duties. And her impact to families has unfortunately been very, very large.

I don't believe there is a statute of limitations with respect to filing complaints. So, if you believe Ms. Karen wronged you and your children years prior, I would still file a complaint with the State Board. They need to know all about her little antics - and her impact to families. This woman is heinous!

Social workers also have to procure malpractice insurance to cover their potential malpractice. So, this means that Ms. Karen can probably be sued as well.

Please, please for the sake of your families and others like yours and mine, file a formal complaint with the State Board. Make sure your complaint has adequate background information to substantiate your claims (emails, court documents, legal documents, etc.) so that their Ethics Office takes your complaint seriously. I did just that - and tried to outline the gross negligence and inconsistencies in Ms. Karen's very biased approach.

And, if you really want to go about this correctly, you can also file a formal complaint with the national organization as well - :) Do both - it will make you feel better - and possibly result in a positive outcome whereby Ms. Karen LOSES HER LICENSE.

I wish you and your families well!
