Kathy Neal Reviews

Kathy Neal and her husband Alex Neal run a Facebook group called Schaumburg Garage Sale. The purpose of the group is to "post your items for sale and promote your garage sales". Kathy runs a company that cleans out foreclosed homes from banks and after 30 days, she gets to keep everything she finds on the property. She then lists these items on her group.

She listed a Lawn mower on the group as a self-propelled, working mower for $50 which I thoughst was a great price. I arranged to have my husband pick up the mower. After meeting with Kathy at a storage facility and paying her $50, he brought the mower home. He said he asked her if everything was working and she said that everything was working fine at the shop and that they couldn't ship it with gas, so he could not start it to test it. She said there shouldn't be any problems though.

I told him that she lists a bunch of stuff all the time, so that we could probably trust her with her descriptions.

When he got it home and looked at it closely, he discovered that the mower was a push mower, not a self-propelled one as advertised. In addition, it was dirty and rusted in several spots so he started to wipe it clean. As he did so, the fuel line literally fell off because it was split in half on both ends and no longer usable. In addition, the oil spout fell off. Seems it was broken and simply put in place where it was supposed to be to make it seem like everything was fine.

I contacted Kathy and told her the three issues and asked for a refund since I really wanted a self-propelled mower and not a push mower - and I wanted one that worked, not that I would have to fix up. She said that it was working fine in the shop and that a new gas line would only cost 50 cents. She then banned me from the group and blocked me from her profile. She also blocked my husband from his profile.

A new gas line costs a little over $17 on Amazon.com (I looked up the part). I don't know how much a new oil spout costs, and again, it's not a self-propelled mower. My husband attempted to reach out to her husband to ask for a refund since I could not reach him or her as she completely blocked me. My husband sent a Facebook message to Alex Neal and we have not heard anything from either him or Kathy. My husband is also blocked from Kathy's profile, so neither one of us can contact her.

I realize now why she has no complaints on the group - because she controls it and just bans anyone who might complain. I don't know if anyone else has had a bad experience with what she sells because she probably just deleted any messages that come in through the group and bans the user.

So now I spent $50 for a bunch of lawnmower parts instead of paying for something that was promised and advertised to work. So I say to everyone buyer beware. Do not trust anything you buy from Kathy and if you do buy something from her, check it out fully before you buy it. She will not offer you a refund and will block you from the group if you attempt to ask for a refund or complain. Considering she gets her items for free, you'd think she'd want great reviews and compliments and instead, she's a scam artist and rip off. I recommend you stay away from her and her group.
