Keffer Hyundai Reviews

  • May 13, 2015

My 2009 Santa Fe died on me driving 60 mph. No gas, brake, power steering, etc. My car was towed to Keffer Hyundai on 8/25/2014. I had driven 86,000 miles without a problem until that day.

Keffer took 9 weeks to rebuild my engine. Keffer managers and service representatives told me time and time again told me they could not find me a new engine. Again, it tool 9 weeks to give me a rebuilt engine. 9 weeks of headaches and phone calls not returned, wrong parts ordered, one excuse after the other and in a phrase, horrible customer service.

I was never given an explanation for what happened to the engine. In fact it was written on the invoice that "customer says car won't start". Remember, the car was towed in! I also could have been seriously hurt if I had been rear ended when my car died.

Within a week of picking up my car it was leaking power steering fluid. I took it back and they tried to tell me the warranty did not cover that repair. It would cost $600 to fix. When I told them I was going to reach out to the Atlanta Hyundai Office Representative again (I had to get him involved the first time), they agreed to fix it. Again, the car is still under warranty.

The second time I started the car after that repair, I noted a horrible noise. It would go away within 2-3 seconds. I drove the car like that for 10,000 miles until everyone I knew told me to get my car fixed. I drove it like that because I was fed up with the horrible service at Keffer and was not looking forward to another long drawn out ordeal.

At this writing, my car has been at Keffer for another 6 and 1/2 weeks! Keffer informed me that the rebuilt engine had a crack in it! Keffer had to bring up an engineer from Atlanta to tell them how to fix it. Of course I asked for a new engine. They declined and stated their 100,000 power train warranty includes remanufactured engines.

How long do you think this engine will last? Considering my car now has 96,400 miles on it, my bet is that the second rebuilt engine lasts 2-3 weeks or 600 miles!

I have met with Shawn Howard and Dwayne Moser to no avail. My problem is not a concern to them. They are not concerned about customer loyalty or customer service or timely repairs. I even asked them to give me the Kelly Blue Book value of my car and I would walk away never to be heard from again. They replied "we won't do that".

Hyundai may make a good product. I have several friends with Hyundai automotives but they don't have 100,000 miles on them yet. I feel like I got a LEMON and Keffer is not doing nothing to make it right. Beware of the the peace of mind you have with your warranty. This headache has gone on for 8 1/2 months now. I will never buy another Hyundai or any car from a Keffer dealer because I can't say enough about the poor customer service I have received. I think d**k Keffer would be ashamed of the way I have been treated.
