K. Walker is a thief

I purchased one magazine from K. Walker in December 2014. It is now March 2015 and I have received no magazines. KLMN Reader Services is a scam.

I am reporting on KLMN Readers Services, Inc. A young man came to our house in May, 2014 and said he was selling magazine subscriptions door to door to help him pay for his college tuition. He was very polite and showed me a list of magazines to choose from and chose Crochet World - 24 issues for $73 and Taste of Home - 21 issues for $54 for a total of $137. Then I noticed he made an error of $10 but he already left and I didn't pursue it. I made the check out to him because he said he had to cash it in and just send a whole total amount at the end of his sale day for all the subscriptions he got for the day. He said a few of my neighbors purchased magazines from him too. The order sheet said I would get my magazines approximately 120 days from the time of purchase which was approximately October, 2014. I started calling the company in November to ask where my magazines were at 1-757-818-9497 but noone ever answered and I left several messages with no call back. That's when I went online and noticed that several people did the same thing I did. I hope this report will other people not to fall for this scam.

On October 13, 2013 a young woman was standing on my property when I returned from a walk. She was selling magazines to help put herself through college. Because I'm a teacher, I decided to help. I purchased a subscription to Zoo Books for my wife's kindergarten classroom at the outrageous price of $60. But I wanted to help this young woman, so I swallowed and wrote out the check.

The young woman was soon picked up by someone in a large van. I became curious and did a quick internet search and saw scores of accounts of folks being scammed by KLMN magazine sales. I looked at the receipt and saw that I could "cancel this transaction without any penalty or obligation within three business days." I immediately copied the receipt and filled out all the cancelation information. I took this to the post office and sent it overnight to KLMN. My check was cashed anyway. I have called and emailed and received no response, and now, November 13, 2014, over a year later, I have received neither reimbursement nor a magazine. Congratualtions KLMN, you ripped off a teacher. This operation is criminal and should be shut down.

Gentelman knocked on our door on 6/23/2014. My child went to the door or I would've never opened it for the individual. Person at the door was a suspcious looking individual who claimed to be an ex-convict trying to "turn their life around". I was very suspicious, but listened to the person's story, and they convinced me to write a $30 check for two magazine subscriptions. It is now late September, and nothing has arrived, no subscription, no explanation. All I have is the carbon copies of the sales receipt.

After looking online, I see that this is a common scam that this company seems to pull. They are slinging shady characters out into our neighboorhoods, and these folks are using questionable tactics to solicit money for services that are never executed on, and probably never were intended to in the first place.

I am going to keep my eye out for reps from this company in our area. If one comes to our door, I'm going to let them know that I'll be calling the police straight away to report fraudulent/criminal activity.

If your people are truly interested in remaining out of jail, then don't come back to Southern Connecticut, KLMN.

Don't believe anything these liars tell you!!! They make up a goodwill story about helping inner city youth get back on their feet, offer all these credentials, etc, but they are all bogus.

I never received magazines, and couldn't get a refund.

If anyone comes to your door selling anything, go on line while they stand on the porch and check out the company.

I just threw away $80. And I am smarter than that I thought!!

I purchased two magazine subscriptions from KLMN Readers Services, Inc. in June of 2012. I waited the specified time but the magazines were a no show. I gave it a little more time but when the magazines still did not start showing up on my doorstep I decided to call the company to follow up. Unfortunately, I couldn't find my receipt. I looked for a day or two but finally decided to throw in the towel and considered it a lesson learned.

About a year later I found the receipt and thought I would give them a call to see if they could get the issue straightened out. I had to call a few times because the voicemail box always seemed to be full. When I finally got thru to a live person I explained my situation. The woman I spoke to was very friendly. She asked me to write a letter explaining what happened. She said they would send the magazines and refund my money because of the long wait.

It took me a couple of months but I finally mailed the letter and once again waited for a response. It is now June of 2014 and I have yet to receive any magazines or the refund I was promised. I have left messages over the last couple of days but nobody has returned my calls.
