I had the unfortunately pleasure of attempting to do business with Andrea Jerome on February 26th of this year. I was in need of some basic income tax help so I decided to visit her Liberty Tax location. Upon entering the door I was immediately met with hostility from the front desk receptionist. She rudely demanded to know if I had made an appointment and told me Andrea was quite busy that day. I should have left right then and there, but I am a forgiving man at heart; I chalked her rudeness up as being the product of a hectic job, consideirng the tax deadline was approaching and I'm sure they were quite busy all week. I calmly explained that I would like to set up an appointment, and it wouldn't have to be today if one was not available. The receptionist seemed to calm down during this period.

As I filled out an appointment form I noticed Andrea Jerome walk out of her office. She curtly smiled in my direction, so I greeted her with a friendly "hello." I told her I was just filling out paperwork and would be seeing her soon to discuss some tax info. In short, I was simply making small talk. Jerome seemed offended by my comment and loudly informed me that I was not currently in an appointment with her, and that I could not ask her any questions. Baffled, I told her that I didn't plan on asking her anything, I was just being friendly. She then belittled me by saying "you do know you have to pay for services here, right?"

That was the final straw. I ripped up the form, threw the pieces on the floor in disgust, and demanded that I be allowed to speak to a manager. Ms. Jerome proceeded to tell me there was no manager, she was in charge and demanded I leave. I told her that I was disgusted by her behavior, and that as a veteran of the Vietnam war I did not lose friends so that she could disrespect me to my face, in my own country. She laughed and threatened to call 911 on me. I should have dared her to. Instead I shook my head and left.

Shortly after leaving the office I heard her follow me out and demand that I pick up the paper that I had ripped up and thrown on the floor. I kept walking, and she kept screaming at me.

I have never experienced such disrespectful, ignorant "service" in my life. How this woman operates a business is baffling to me. I would hope that something can be done to raise more awareness on the sheer ignorance of this mad woman.

I came here the last week that 2013 taxes had to be filed. Yes I did it last minute, I know, but that doesn't give them the right to rip me off. I came one afternoon and went through a quote with tax preparer Blake P01734875. I needed to file 4 years worth of taxes. At first he was really nice, gave me a good estimate on how much I will be receiving and mentioned it may not be worth it to file for 2010 since it was the 4th yr. After speaking to his manager, a lady with blonde curly hair. He returned with an assumption that I may get some money back, however he would have to charge me for 4 yrs worth of preparation.

During his preparation which was basically filing in my information on the computer and hitting send, he then says that he would have to take out his fees from year 2013 so that it saves the hassle and would be more convenient for me. At this point i was just glad i finally was able to take care of my taxes and i didn't have to deal with fines etc. The charge with fees was $997.00 + the $125 deal i purchased through yelp with the TOTAL of $1,122 He said it will take up to 21 days.

31 days later, I haven't heard from Blake or their company. A week later i decided to give them a call and I was told to come to the culver city location where my refund will be available for pick up. (Okay, free pass. I didn't receive a phone call from my preparer but whatever, no big deal. Im pretty chill as a customer)

I arrived at the Sepulveda location and there goes Blake, busy on the phone. 20 minutes later I am finally sitting down waiting for my paperwork and check. After going through his system, he was unable to locate my refund. Great! its okay no worries.. he promised to call me the next day since everyone else's was there but mine. A week later i decided to just show up at their office. There goes Blake again on his computer on youtube. After waiting an hour he locates my paperwork and prints my check of $58.00

"Is that it?" i asked him and he explained to me that my 1ST CHECK was for 2013 and he had takes out all his fees. SOOOO... what happened to the other 3 years as he quoted i would receive? his response.. "Oh I didn't tell you?! You would get it in the mail and your should have received it by now or any time soon." Ummm, no you clearly did not give me that information! I left the place a little insulted. what am i going to do with that $58, buy a bottle of wine?

2 weeks later I still haven't received anything?! I recall calling him and asking what he had found out about my returns and wondered why he hasn't called me like he said he would. Again it was I who took time out of my schedule to call him. Late afternoon he calls me back to let me know everything went through fine and he wasn't sure why I didn't receive my refunds. Well can you find out? he said sure. But i had no update.

I have been in my apartment for 5 months so I wondered if the mail man didn't recognize me as a new tenant in the building. I spoke to my mail man and he had recall seeing a mail with no apartment number. He pulls it out and just my luck its 1 of my 2ND CHECK refund. My address was incorrect. I called and left a message and later finally spoke to Blake. I made him double check if he had my correct address and guess what? he did not type in my apartment number? Are you F@#%^ kidding me? He makes changes and apparently sends in the update. I am still waiting on 2 more so he said it shouldn't be a problem anymore.

At this point my blood is BOILING. I am a FIRST TIME client of Liberty Tax. YOU are my preparer! It is your duty to make my life easier and provide service to take that stress out of my year. With $1122 worth of fees Blake has forgotten one thing. RULE #1 MAKE SURE YOU FILL IN YOUR CLIENT'S CORRECT INFORMATION AND ADDRESS ACCORDING TO THE INFORMATION GIVEN. ITS ALSO ON THE DMV DL ID!!!!! (do that at least!)

Weeks later I receive my 3RD CHECK with the INCORRECT address once again! My information was NOT updated like he said it would. Lucky for me i made friends with my postman and he placed it in my box. I gave Blake a call and expressed how upset and disappointed I was. He said I can just call the corporate if I wanted. WHAT?!

I called IRS waited and waited til I was able to change my own information. Liberty tax is suppose to provide that service with having that ease of not dealing with filing your taxes. Isn't that what this business is about?

Blake listened to my situation and wanted to cash in on that fees in the MAXIMUM amount. After that, he COLD- HEARTEDLY dismissed my files. Did I mention til this day I still DID NOT RECEIVE copies of my paper work.

I watched from the inside their hiring process. Who does Liberty Tax have handling YOUR personal information? My bet is out of 5 preparers at least 4 are on floridamugshots.com. Everything from grand theft auto to drug use. Some were even convicted of stealing monies and breaking and entering. If you had your taxes done at Liberty Tax then take a second, go through your return get your preparers name and look them up! The manager of Liberty Tax Seffner is the one that showed me all the criminals she and and the owner personally hired to handle your personal information! Also you might want to find out why it is that the owners of these locations have outside jobs in other industries and are never availible to handle situations that occur with Liberty Tax or United One Insurance. Everything I have stated is a FACT that can be backed up.

My husband and I filed our taxes with Liberty Tax on Feb. 3, 2014 I noticed something wasnt right when the girl that did our taxes did not have me sign along with my husband. After looking at the paper work I started noticing alot of things that wasnt right. First she filed it married filing head of household when it should have been married filing joint, then she said there was some questions to be asked and when I looked at what she had put down it was lies stuff that I did NOT say at all. After finding those problems we went back to the office and spoke with the manager and she said she would get if fixed we sat down pointed out all the problems and she went on the computer and corrected the mistakes and then had me sign everything. And when we asked why the girl put those lies on their the manager tried to tell us that it had to be a computer error. Then I asked what was we being charged because the fees were no where to be found on the paperwork, and we were told it was $410 and I was totally shocked and since we had to come in for problems she was going to give us a discount. About a week later we got a call saying our check was ready to be picked up and when we got there to pick it up on the detail page it showed not only were we being charged the full amount of the $410 there was a $34.95 account handling fee and $5.00 amount paid to transmitter. We told the girl that it was wrong she told us she didnt know what to tell us to just come back when the manager was there and talk with her. I proceeded to contact corporate headquarters and complianed about it, and since they have the 100% satisfaction gurantee they refunded the $410 fee. After speaking with several people about their returns they told me that we should get a second opinion, after having to go back to the office 2 more time because the manager said she was able to submit our federal amendment electronicaly and when she fixed our state amendment she handed us the paperwork and and envelope and told us to mail it. After waiting nearly 4 weeks I went on the IRS site under where is my amended return and it said that there was no record of our amendment. I even called the IRS number and it said the same thing. So we went back to the office yet agian and told the manager and she tried to tell us we where wrong but then she went on the computer and printed out the paper work marked on it where we were to sign and then handed us another envelope for us to mail it ourselves. And when my husband asked her she tried to say well you know how the mail is sometimes it can get lost, and that when we knew she screwed it up for sure cause she told us she done it electronically. During all that the manager proceeded to sign the original girls name that first prepared our taxes, and to me that is forgery.. I also contacted corporate agian and they told me that someone would get in touch with me within the next 24 hours and I never got a call back.
