Long Island City Hyundai Reviews

  • Jul 4, 2014

My daughter put a down payment on a 2013 Hyundai Genesis in January. She told them that she would be back Presidents week and asked the salesman Eric to hold the car. We called a few days prior to let Eric know that we were coming and told him that we would be financing thru Chase. He told us not to finance thru them that he could definately get us a better deal. It took us 2 hours to get there because we got caught in traffic and go lost once along the way. Eric introduced us to the manager Israel and Eric showed us the car. It was in mint condition. While we were waiting they had us sign over the title to my daughter's trade-in which was a 2002 Chevy Cavailer.

The book value was $3000 but because there had been an accident with the car we knew it would be a little less. The manager told us he would give us $1000. I told Israel she had been offered $3000 but he said because we were getting such a good price on the car and because of the accident he would only give us $1000. Then they had us switch over the insurance. We then waited patiently for 2 hours while they ran the financing. When I asked why it was taking so long I was told that because my daughters credit was low they were going to run it with me as a co-signer.

We continued to wait and then Eric came over to tell us the bad news that they didn't have the title on the car. It could take a week or 2 maybe more. My daughter was upset and I was pissed off because I had wasted 3 hours in a car dealership and had a 2 hour drive to look forward 2. We went home and when I got there it occured to me that Jess had no insurance on her car and they had the title. Jess looked on the website and found another Hyandai Genesis which they had the title to. I asked if we would get the same interest rate that they had quoted me right before I left and Eric said sure it should be the same.

They quoted me 2.9%. We went back to the dealer the following weekend to pick up the car. This time we were rushed thru which I assumed was because of the long painful wait we had the week before. When we sat down and I looked at the financing it was 4.6. They said because the other car was a 2013 and had less than 5000 miles on it they could put it down as a new car but this was a 2012. When we were driving out I mentioned to Eric that the treads were very low on the tires. His reply was that it passed inspection. When we took it to our mechanic he said we wouldn't get more than 6 months out of the tires. I didn't notice until the next day that the price for the trade in was marked as $500.

I called and called and called. I called Eric, the manager Israel and the finance manager Mario. They were all busy all day and would not take my calls. Finally I reached Mario and he told me that was the number he was given for the trade in. Finally Eric called me back, told me it was a mistake and it was in the computer as $1000. A check would be mailed to me. A week went by and same process calling and calling with no reply. I left a message on Erics phone. My daughter called on a different number and gave the phone to my husband. He told my husband that they had to get paid and we should be getting the check in the mail.

Israel had to cut the check. This was now the first week in March. It is May and still no check, no phone calls, nothing. We continued to call and get put on hold. There website had all 5's because they hand pick there reviews. My daughter found some site that there average was 1 1/2. Same stories cars that could not be sold or were sold prior to the person getting there so they get a different car. Low prices on trade in's or no money for there trade in. I'm hoping someone will stop them. I'm not done yet I will put ther word out wherever I can. Memorial Day is coming. I'd like to save people from going thru the same crap I did. What comes around goes around.
