Magic Jack Reviews

  • Jul 9, 2015

I have been using Magic Jack for ther past 2 years, never had an issue like this before and suddenly they want me to prepay for calling certain numbers within the USA. They can not tell me what numbers or why, and the fact I was able to call this number before means nothing to them. This is deceptive advertising because they just randomly decide to charge by the minute and that was the reason I gave up my landline and paid to have this number ported. I think I don't need this anymore My cell phone works just fine. Good bye Magic Jack. I won't be sharing anything good about you anymore...

Purchased magicjackplus from local Radio Shack. Once you insert it into your computer in order to activate your phone number is requested and then come the fees: $20. to keep your same phone number and if your want to buy an additional year for $29.95. Clicked yes to both, paid with my credit card and now I have an account. Attempted to set up the magicjackplus as a stand alone as advertised and after many attempts and chats with customer service it was found to not be compatibly with the modem of my current internet provider. Returned to Radio Shack and they returned my money $85.07. Reconnected the cord back to old provider and found no dial tone. Contact Customer: they stated because I did not use the 30 days free trial offered on the internet I get no refund of $52. and today had to pay 31.44 to get my port/phone number back. This is clearly a rip-off. You are deterred in each step trying to cancel and you are held hostage until you figure it all out and accept the charges to allow the return of your telephone port. The key point: Keeping your home phone number is not stated you are moving your port to magicjack. for seniors citizens on fixed incomes this is a costly scam.

I was notified by my credit card company of possbile fraudulent activity. It was a $400. charge from magic jack. My husband and I were notified by magic jack that we needed to renew or our service would end (almost a year ago). We did not renew our service and switched to another phone provider. We even changed our phone number. Now, almost a year later, we are charged $400 to a credit card that we have not used in years and had never authorized magic jack to charge.

When setting up magic jack, we authorized them to charge our American Express card. We never renewed with majic jack and have not been customers for almost a year. Now our Bank of America credit card that we don't even have, use, and never authorized magic jack to use is charged $400!!!

I purchased a five year phone plan with Magicjack Plus, starting 11-30-11 it was to continue until 12-27-2017. I stopped using the phone for awhile, then tried to re-establishit's use. I spent 2 hours plus on the phone to what amounts to a poorly trained tech dept to no avail, they had no idea why my Magicjack service would not work. I gave up and called my card carrier to see if I could protest the charge - which was 104.54 but they only go back for 90 days.

They did however contact Magicjacks billing dept. to see if I could get credit for the unused time, Magicjack catagorically refused to refund any amount for the time I cannot use because they can not resolve the issue.

Macicjack offered to send yet another component, which I would have to pay a trumped up shipping charge for. I refused because it is not the component that is in error it is Magicjacks enternal policy of grinding out yet more cash from it's customers.

Any attempt to use their web site is masked over with a screen to extort yet another payment option. I am dead in the water now, and Magicjack contnues to rip off thousands of it's customers with this scheme. To the reader ---- avoid Magicjack at all cost! They will rob you blind. Use other options for a voip - I wish I had.

I have been a Magicjack customer for many years but I didn't realise that 911 did not work, until I needed it but

then I have been asking magicjack to make my 911 service activated for 8 weeks now and they still have not solved it and make my request pending...No one at magic jack can tell me why it's not activated or why it's still pending except that they raise the issue to a higher person.....I have heard that before over the last 7 weeks

and nothing has been resolved...My 911 service has been pending for 7 weeks now... Something so serious and something so simple. Especially if phones are your business.

I gather my next step is court with magicjack.

Please Do Not Buy and Register the MagicJack (internet phone call). The Magic Jack Register website is keep charging money to your credit card. When you register your magicjack phone number and they charge you $3.23 for selecting your phone number. When you enter credit card to pay and then the website charge to your credit card and then say the card is not valid. I did not know that so I keep click again and they charged again and also say card invalid. So, I just want every one know do not buy Magicjack internet phone. They need to correct this asap.

Purchased a Magic Jack package at Wal-Mart for Approximately $50.

The card with the device suggested that the fee would be for less than $20 annually. That was sometime in April 2014. I was offered a 5 year re-up which I accepted but can't immediately verify because I never get formal invoices. My Magic Jack phone quit working suddenly and I'm informed that there is a $30 unpaid fee for the phone number. This was never made clear when I first contracted with these folks. I requested that they send me at least an Email telling me why they discontinued my service, but apparently they refuse to do so. I'm at the mercy of gentlemen whose first language is obviously not English. I believe I've been scammed not only by Magic Jack but by the retailer Wal-Mart.

Placed an online order for MagicJack. Never recieved an email confirmation nor the product. MagicJack ripped me off of $97.00 and claims to have no record of transaction. Yet my bank statement shows MagicJack processed the payment and were paid.

Tried to get customer service to help but could not understand thier heavy accent and after about 10 minutes of trying the lady transfers me to sales.

I explained to the non-English speaking lady my problem and she tried to sell me the product again. I asked for a refund then she tranfered me to someone else who you were barely able to hear due to the overwhelming noise of people talking in the background.

I finally gave up and had my banker reverse the charges. It took almost 30 days to get my money back. It's not about the money, it's the principle. A company should have integrity and offer reliable and exceptional service. This company is taking advantage of people and sending our jobs overseas to boot. I don't know if they are an American company or not. All I know is that they are not honest about the way they do business.

Magicjack will not process registration without CREDIT CARD info.

Why? Service is paid for in advance for first year with purchase of new “GO”

12 months FREE service with purchase of $59.99 "GO"

Purchased with cash at Walmart. Credit Card info is not safe.

Talked with their support line, entered “outside US” so no 911 service as they suggested.

There was nothing additional to pay for.

Still they will not give you a phone number, ANY phone number without your credit card information.

I Was bumped to three different “live chat agents” before being told they were required by law to get credit card information – Really! Why?

Why would they want all these credit card numbers, if they do not intend to charge them?

This CREDIT CARD SCAM needs to be looked into.

After switching my service to a new provider, MJ delayed the request to transfer my phone number until my 6 month contract expired, then refused to transfer the number until a one year renewal fee was paid. After three months of trying, they are still holding the phone number hostage that I had had for 30 years. This is extortion.

Yesterday I plugged in an old magic jack usb that I never used.

It asked me to update my info. I did. Then it asked me to re-new. I did not re-new.

Today I got two charges in my bank account from them: $63.49 and $1.00.

I was not able to find a customer service number, only the chat online. Rep was not helpful. I asked for the customer service phone number and would not give it to me.

Stay away from this scam. Shaddy company that offers ""phone solutions"" and do not offer a customer service phone number. Now it is clear why! Probably they get a ton of complaints. These thieves should be behind bars.
