Map Builds 4 Less Reviews

  • Mar 12, 2015

After reading this companys website we hired them to install a tile backsplash and new granite countertops. The work was terrible. It was not the right material and the way it was installed was aweful. After confronting the owner Michael Paulson about it, he said it was not his problem. He told us quote "deal with it" and hung up the phone. I realize now the website has been plagiarized with fake customer testamonials. Please be aware of this shady business. This company charges less because they build less with less. This company will rip you off!

BLACKMAIL

Mr. Lilequest works for a well-known and respected Oil & Gas Company in a leadership capacity and surely he knows that if you have a complaint at the very least, put the facts out, signed agreement out for all to view and then others can decide based on facts . NOT MUD SLINGING. Instead of acting like a child trying to get attention and hurt others from behind a computer.

Below is the building plans contract that Mr. Lilequest signed and agreed to and when we presented the first preliminary set of building plans for his review he flipped out and starting cussing me out as well as leaving a (2 minute threatening message on my phone) on my voice mail directed to me personally WHICH I HAVE SAVED and have turned over to the police.

Mr. Kevin Lilequest has been trying to BLACK MAIL US including writing nothing less than lies about us on the internet including giving him more than 400 SF of plans including the list below that was not in the agreement that is also noted below. Mr. Lilequest has gone as far as stalking my face book including my wife’s and copying our pictures for his use?

Mr. Lilequest is currently harassing me and others involved, then he finally he told me that he expected color 3D plans, etc??? He went on to tell me that even though he never told me he wanted this extra work that I should have known what he was thinking? My plans man said that Mr. Lilequest NEVER mentioned to him during our job walk that he wanted 3-D, coloring drawings including many renderings according to Mr. Lilequest?

Mr. Lilequest has emailed us many threatening letters that we have saved and turned over to the police and our attorneys due to his recent actions. We have tried to work this out with him although we believe that he either has a drug, alcohol, substance problem and or some type of mental issues due to his actions, due to we are not able to read his mind.

He has openly admitted on tape that he never told us that he wanted all of these extra items until he flipped out on us, which we have saved for future use.

We are currently considering a character of defamation law suit against Mr. Lilequest.

Original contract for 1200 SF: $1185.00

Original balance due: $300.00

Additional building plans SF 1618

Additional cost above estimate: $210.00

Total due upon receipt: $510.00

Conditional Lien Release for the property above

NOTE: We were drawing building plans so he could build a room addition not a coloring book that he wanted after the fact due to him in his own words. (Do I have to tell you everything that I am thinking?

Resolution

Michael, I want to resolve this. This is not about the preliminary plans, this is about a signed contract we had with each other, a binding agreement. In the contract on the second page it clearly states...

E. Once agreement has been signed and deposit has been received we shall come and do a site visit to start plans, include all details, measurements as needed and start preliminary plans and they shall be ready in approximate 7 days for owner’s final review before they go to print.

Were the plans delivered in "approximate" 7 days? How long did it take to get me the plans? It was over 2 weeks, 16 days to be precise. That is a breach of contract. Regardless of what I thought about the plans, the contract was broken. I have nothing to gain from all this. I am not black mailing you. I just want my deposit refunded - thats it.

On your website it states - We are dedicated to our foundation of "Commitment to Excellence". Are you really?

Letters From Our Customers

2013-2014

Liz and Greg Finney

Highland Village, TX, 75077

Project: New 2400 SF New Home Construction in 2013-2014

This is a letter of recommendation to MAP Build and Remodel.

Building a house from scratch is a daunting task; we hired Michael

as our Project Manager, seeing the project from start to finish.

With a project of this magnitude, we did have a few hick ups and

design changes throughout the build; however Michael came up with

creative ideas and solutions to the task at hand. He has a great

ability to take control of any situation dealing with planning,

budgeting, contracts, lien releases, sub-contractors, city planning,

and all the construction headaches you could imagine. His attention to

detail and smart ideas saved us a lot of money and time.

We are very happy with Michael’s work, professionalism, and dedication

to our new home. The house turned out better than expected!

If you require any more info, or would like a tour of the house, please

do not hesitate to call.

Thanks

Greg Finney

To Whom It May Concern:

In March, of 2013, we noticed several problems with our house which needed immediate attention. We also wanted to do several upgrades to our home. We selected Michael Paulson, owner of MAP Build & Remodel as our contractor. This selection was based on the detail of his scope of work, his demeanor, references, and what we felt was a fair price,

Once they began the work, Michael's crew discovered several major problems which we did not anticipate. These included a ruptured sewer line and water leaks in three areas of the house. This greatly increased the scope of work for the project.

Throughout this process, Michael and his crew demonstrated professionalism, fairness, honesty and integrity in their pricing and in their workmanship. We were very fortunate to have Michael as our contractor. The work was done to our satisfaction. The end product has turned into a very nice upgrade to our home.

When urgent issues arose, Michael addressed them calmly, professionally, and efficiently. Michael was also very pleasant to work with and kept us informed about the status of the work and schedules. We were very impressed with his attention to detail and his standards.

I would highly recommend MAP Build & Remodel for any remodeling or restoration project.

If you would like any further information, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

James and Joan Lavender

Vice President of operations: John Jenkins

We have been using Michael's services since 2010; we first hired Michael to oversee our new Dallas city building division as consultant during our set process and few job sites due to our distance from Dallas, TX. We purchased 64 apartment building in Dallas and had Michael perform a detailed estimate for the remodeling cost of $1,246,440.00 in order to restore our newly purchased apartment complex.

We hired Michael again to restore and complete our new senior citizen subdivision homes for the city of Dallas. We shall always call on Michael for his services due to his expertise in the construction industry.

_____________________________________________________________________________

I am offering this letter of recommendation to Michael due to designing and building our family a large two story room addition to our home in Bartonville.

Michael did an outstanding job for us including keeping us updated of job progress and or any issues that arose from time to time. This was not an easy job although Michael showed that he was in control of the process and we appreciated that during the construction process.

Chad Virnig,

Bartonville, Texas

To whom this may concern,

I have hired MAP Build and Remodel on several occasions to remodel my several rental homes in Corinth and Denton. Michael has shown a true dedication to each project each and every time that he has performed one of my remodel projects. There has a been few times that we needed to speed up the process so I could rent a home out on time and he has delivered. I highly recommend Michael for any building or remodel project.

Any questions please feel free to call me.

Regards,

Everret Lennon

Dallas, TX

Dear Michael.

I am offering this letter regarding your design and build services that you did for my home located in The Colony, Texas

Michael designed the plans, submitted them to the city for the permit process. Built us a few additions and remodeled our kitchen and we are extremely pleased with your services and the final product to our home.

I certainly would recommend Michael’s construction services to who may be in need.

Marhys Eckley

We had Michael demolish our old home and design, build our new two story 2500 SF home near downtown Dallas with his Plan B services in 2008. We found Michael to be working in our best interest at all times including dealing with subcontractors, contracts, payments, city, inspectors permitting process, job site issues. Michael was also very conscious of our project budget during the construction.

We had bids from other contractors from $185-K up to $220-K just to build our home not including the demolishing of our old home. Michael got the job done for $160-K. We recommend Michael to all for their project needs.

After interviewing several different contractors for my new tanning salon retail finish out, I chose to work with MAP Plan B hourly services. I was appreciative of Michael's professionalism and his attention to detail before and during our construction process. I also liked being able to use his design services to insure that I received what I needed for my business.

Time is money in the tanning business and Michael did an excellent job of staying on top of every aspect of the construction process from top to bottom. He had his team work weekends and long hours to get my project finished, so I could open my doors for business! Michael also was conscientious of my budget and made every effort to keep my costs down.

Thanks again!

Corona Tan, Hickory Creek , TX

Mike Emmett

Michael's knowledge and professionalism is an asset to any construction project. We used his Plan B Program he offers in order to renovate our complicated investment property located in lower Greenville in Dallas. If we had used a typical set contract price on this project we would not have been able to save thousands below the retail cost without Michael's program due to our budget. We shall use Michael's service again and recommend him to all.

Thanks,

Jake Higgins

Dear Michael:

Michael, I wanted to take a moment to write you a letter of appreciation as it relates to the room addition that was supervised by Dan Fetter with / MAP Build & Remodel. I hope you will share this letter with potential customers that may be considering Michael for their construction project in the future.

Our Project:

* Remove the roof over the garage & existing house

* Install a 'pony wall'

* Add nearly 1,000 square feet inclusive of: Bedroom w/ closet (project room), Office w/ fireplace & balcony, Bathroom w/ enclosed steam shower, Game closet & homework Room w/ built-in desks. As wall as hallway cabinetry.

Background: Sylvia and I considered moving to a little larger home or expanding our current home in the fall of 2003. After reviewing the marketplace we determined that an addition would better fit our needs. We hired an Architect to draw up the plans then interviewed six different Contractors' for our project. After meeting with six different contractors, we provided plans to four Contractors' to provide proposals. The proposal responses were all over the board with a swing in pricing of nearly 20%. Although of the other Contractors' provided a bid on the project only one provided a bid as we outlined with simple instructions in our 'scope of work.' We did not choose the 'lowest' bid or the 'highest' bid, but chose MAP because Mike provided a competitive response exactly as we had requested. MAP 's proposal demonstrated that they were listening to the needs of his client, so we felt much more comfortable that our needs would be listened to during the project.

We were right; MAP did an absolutely outstanding job at running our project. We received numerous time frames from 60 days to 8 months from the various contractors, Michael quoted about 10 weeks (but we had Thanksgiving and Christmas week to contend with), and MAP completed the job in 10 weeks! The job was completed on budget, managed the crews to have at least one Sub; many times several sub's on site every day. This was not a small project to complete and MAP 's dedication to getting the job done was outstanding.

Mike, I wish you continued success and I know that other families will enjoy working with MAP Construction as much as we did.

Sincerely,

Jeff Cosby

To whom it may concern,

After interviewing several different contractors for a retail finish out, I chose to work with Michael. I was appreciative of Michael's professionalism and his attention to detail. I also liked being able to use his design services and having the designer involved in the construction.

Being a retail business, time is money and Michael did an excellent job of staying on top of every aspect of the construction process. He had his team work weekend hours to get projects finished, so I could open my doors for business. Michael also was conscientious of my budget and made every effort to keep my costs down.

I would definitely recommend Michael, as I already have, to anyone looking for an honest, dependable and quality contractor.

Thank you,

Niki Cunningham

Dear Michael.

If you have ever dealt with a home renovation, you probably know that many contractors drag out the process for months, giving you endless, lame excuses for the endless delays. In the end, work is usually just average.

Happily, Michael of MAP Build & Remodel is an exception to the rule.

When we needed to renovate our townhouse in Dallas to sell it, we called Michael. Obviously, time was of the essence. Michael showed up promptly, knew everything that needed to be done and gave us a good estimate on the work scope. He started the work very soon and got it done. What a relief! Soon our townhouse was completely repainted and re-carpeted and the countless little broken things that we had lived with over the years were repaired or replaced. The new floor was in place in the kitchen & even some old broken windows and sagging clothes rods in a closet were fixed. Our town house was ready to go on the market.

I highly recommend Michael to anyone who needs to renovate or repair a home, or get it ready to sell.

Michael is conscientious, professional, straightforward and friendly, all the things you hope for when it comes to working on your home.

The townhouse owners in my building were so impressed with Michael that they got him to do work for them. Now that's a good sign!

Respectfully submitted,

David Valanzy

Dear Mike

We were very well satisfied with the professionalism and the quality of the workmanship performed on our rain damaged home. You were physically at the job site every day to make sure all the work went smoothly and to coordinate all of the tradesmen to perform their part of the entire project on a timely basis.

Working on a home for 10 weeks could have been a total nightmare but in this case it was not. The crew worked diligently, the house was cleaned every night. The various tradesmen that you sent were topnotch in their field and worked to please the homeowner. Our home is now back to normal and we are delighted with the finished product.

Thank you for your efforts. We would definitely recommend you and your crew to anyone who has a need for any type of construction.

As you know I own a stable of executive rental houses, located in Silicon Valley ( San Jose , California ),Dallas and Corinth , Texas .

When we met, I had just suffered a rare but critical loss from a tenant who had abused one of my 4,000 sq. ft. Houses. I needed paint (inside & out), tile flooring, extensive stair railing repair, door repairs and some of all the building trades. Delay was costing me $2,000.00 /month rent loss.

You stepped up to the plate. Bid fairly, accomplished work I needed first (outside/front repairs/paint) to give me back the homes 'curb appeal' so that I could show it for rent and you 'kept at it' diligently and professionally. It rented in three weeks.

Now it looks "better than new" inside and out.

Thanks Michael.

Sincerely,

Lennon

To whom it may Concern

I am pleased to offer this letter of recommendation for the services of MAP Build & Remodel. I had to put my Dallas residence on the real estate market promptly, my real estate agent recommended Mike with the highest regards. My needs consisted of a totally new roof, foundation, and numerous interior & exterior upgrades. I flew back to Dallas to sign my real estate contract and set up the repairs needed with Mike which he was able to meet me on short notice.

Mike worked out a suitable and thorough alternative completion to the job at hand. Probably most important of all was his consistent communications with me during the entire process with job progress as I was in another state. I recommend them to anyone one who needs building, remodeling work.
