We hired Maurice York / York Custom Renovations to frame/drywall and finish our basement on an agreed price. We had a signed contract and payment terms. Maurice was currently living in a motel and did not have a car. We went out of our way to help him out by giving advance payments, rides to the bus stop, and even meals when he was working.
Our generosity bit us in the butt, when he tripled the price to finish the framing and drywall. While he was waiting for us to finish the plumbing/electrical and mechanical, he picked up some additional work and said he no longer "needed" the money and if we wanted the job finished it was going to cost 3 times more than what we previously agreed upon.
Rude, unprofessional and unethical all around. Do not hire this guy if you want your job finished as agreed.
