Midway Veterinary Hospital Reviews

  • May 14, 2014

We have a 12 year breeding program of Desert Lynx Rare and Exotic felines, we obtained a bacterial infection.. (1st time ever in the 12 years) We went in for a stool sample and well as a milk sample of the mother's milk. (In which we had noticed the cubs had gotten sick, and it pointed to mothers milk being bad as they puked up what looked like curtled milk...) We were tossed back between vets... Dr Fowler, then Dr. Gold, then Victoria Brooks... He prescreibed Metronidazole and then called us and said NO bring that back, I'll give you something else"" Which was amoxidrops.... We're doing all we can to get this gone and do this according to the vet......

So afterhaving to repeat our story to each vet, we went in to see a great exotic vet Victoria Brooks our 3rd visit for this infection, who said thanks to microbilogy we found out it is chlostridium infection in mothers milk.. So she put the cubs and mother on amoxidrops for 6 weeks. We came back to get more antibiotics to treat everyone just to make sure it did not return as it can be spead through feces in the litter boxes. We sterilze the litter boxes once a day and scppot them twice a day religously. Always have.

We keep things very clean and sanitary. 30/1 bleach solutions.... We did not know it could still come back being treated with such a low dose of antibiotics..... so we of course ended up back at the vet in panic mode about this infection as the cubs had lost some weight and were getting lethargic and vomiting.

We rushed them in and we walked back into the private room with Dr. Fowler (A different vet than the 1st visit)

Without having seen him for quite some time since the previous infection 6 weeks prior, he instantly blamed my husband and I for this infection reoccuring....

He yelled ""ARE YOU BLAMING ME? I DIAGNOSED THIS CLEAR BACK IN JULY and treated it""

We said, You diagnosed this as a bacterial infection, not specific about what type of bacterial.... it's Chlostridium and we needed to know exactly what it was WHEN it occured, and we found out through Victoria Brooks who did a mircroscope view and used her microbilogy skills to figure it out in less than 5 minutes she told us exactly what it was.

He made us deal with hell trying to get antibiotics to treat everyone.. Finally he prescribed Metronidazole and Albon to cover 4 different bacterial type of infections... including Giardia and Coccidia...Shorting us several times on Metronidazole and Albon on ML's.... and charging each time for refills when they should have provided all of it the first visit. We were quoted at a final bill which we had to get put on a ontract it was for $138 We had to keep driving back and getting tossed around having the receptionists say ""Dr. Fowler is out to lunch or is not on site right now"" We were determined the get this infection gone before the cubs were sent off to their new homes so we could make sure they were good to go, and have the knowledge that they were in good health and would not have any diarhea or puking or anything. We are very compassionate about these cubs, they are our babies. .. We had to pay 198 instead of 138 which we were quoted for. Every time we go there it's more money more money!!!!!! We are broke now!

Dr. Fowler is an a****** who assaulted my husband in the private room, spilling water all over him, i SAID ""This is not a professional business let's leave now! I started to put away the cubs back into the carrier and the momma cat into hers... He then procedded to yell and throw his paper work Grabbing the sick Momma cat from my arms and hitting her down on the counter saying ""NO DON'T GO I'M GONNA FIX THIS""... I about had a panic attack... I had to take deep breaths and my husband was looking at me like Oh my god what the hell just happened!! It was crazy and I will never reccommend any of our clients to this vet, EVER. Improper, Inhumane, Unprofessional, Pushy, just want your money, and do not have the best interest in the vet, they want the money and want to add on all sorts of fees. We ended up spendinf 1200 in one month for one simple infection that could have been treated right in the first place. All that stress..... and we are taking our money elsewhere.. You reap what you sow.
