My Name is Daniel Jones, I am a 43 year old African American male, a professor of psychology at Duke University, and currently reside in Durham, North Carolina. I am writing this to inform and warn the general public of a company that has verbally and emotionally assaulted me and my family.

On The 3/12/14 I was scheduled to have my furniture transported from Atlanta, GA to my current home in Durham. In the interest of the reader, I will make this very short. The movers arrived, significantly damaged 4 of my items while loading the truck, when they drove away, they called my wife and told her the bill trippled and our $2,300.00 estimate will now cost us $6,900.00. We immidiately called Moving APT, the broker, and explained our situation to them. They quickly became very hostile and ""Joey"", the operations manager, called my wife the ""N"" word. I was in complete disbelief.

I demanded to speak to his supervisor and was transfered to Meyr Aviv, the owner of the company. As my wife became overwhelmed with anxiety from the massive unexplainable increase in the price of the move and the extremely disturbing racist remarks from Joey, I asked Meyr what we should do at this point to resolve the issues at hand. His exact quote, ""You want to not pay for move, I not going to give you Sh**, you cheap bl*** want to move for free I can not help you"", and he hung up. I know these were his exact words because my cellphone automatically records all phone calls.

Wait, it gets worse... It is now 5/14/14, over 2 months since my belongings were picked up and scheduled to be shipped directly to my current residence in NC, less than an 800 mile distance. I have paid in full the $6,900.00 bill, and have not received further correspondence from Moving APT. I have contact local, state and federal authorities and am filing suit against Meyr Aviv, and Moving APT. I welcome anyone to contact me via email if they wish to dispute this claim, or if they had a similar experience and would like to be put in touch with my attorney.

We decided to use Moving APT over some of the other movers because of their tactic of pretty much bashing the other moving companies that were competing for the job. The top competition was Flat rate out of NY and I really wished I would have chosen them Moving APT Rep Shawn emailed me some of the complaints and bad reviews posted on line about Flat rate and my husband and I went with APT after Shawn explained to us how the other companies would quote much less then up charge us and hold our stuff until we paid. Well, guess what APT Moving is trying to do....

I now know that I should have known better and done my homework. Any company that is willing to tarnish another company’s reputation to that extreme is nothing but a rip of f themselves.

We prepaid the move thinking that’s one bill out of the way BUT After everything was loaded and the movers left I got a call from the driver telling me that They are now up charging us $4500 for extra “ Capacity” – WHEN WE HAVE NOT ADDED ONE ITEM TO THE LIST and ""extra packing supplies."" WHEN THE ORIGINAL QUOTE WAS FOR FULL PACKING. Obviously, there is no way to prove either one of those claims, or they told us they would not deliver our stuff until we paid.

Since we were not prepared and did not have the cash money available we had to stay in a hotel for 2 weeks until we were able to come up with the money. They refused to accept any other type of payment but CASH. I notified the company that I do have cash on hand and they said that a truck would be leaving the next day and the delivery would be 2 days later. When the date of the delivery arrived no one contacted us I called and was told that the truck broke down and it will be another 2- 3 WEEKS. We felt as though we had no control and that they were actually doing this on purpose. They refused to get a manager or the owner on the phone and we had no money to seek legal help the people on the phone were careless rude obnoxious, unprofessional

On the delivery date the driver showed up ALNOE my husband and I had to help unload all our items off the truck. We were shocked that many of the items were not on the truck. Our big screen was packed in its ORIGINAL BOX and that arrived EMPTY all electronics were gone. $4000 Temparpedic mattress gone, the other two mattress were so badly soiled we had to trash them as well ,Missing 15 Boxes and the other boxes were wet and contents damaged . Furniture b roken. Later when we unpacked these boxes our clothes and were badly damaged full of Rat droppings and Mildew not much could be salvaged

Although we purchased insurance and we filed a claim with Moving APT THEY ARE CLAIMMING THAT THEY ARE NOW ONLY A BROKER AND CAN NOT HELP US – they sold our job to a moving company that is no longer in business – I later found out that the movers they sold our job to were NEVER LICENSED

In all they lost/ruined over $50,000 worth of belongings, some family heirlooms. Horrible horrible company, experience. My Husband and I are now seeking legal options

BUT WHAT EVER YOU DO DO NOT MOVE WITH MOVING APT** YOU WILL END UP PAYING DOUBLE TO HAVE EVERYTHING YOU OWN DESTROYED They are a scamming BROKER They should be shut down.

Moving APT is a FRAUD

Using Moving APT for my recent move has been the utmost horrifying experience of my life. They are, by far, the most unprofessional, unethical and negligent company I've ever done business with.

In short, they left my two small children to love out of 3 suitcases for 36 days until they found a lowlife mover cheap enough to subcontract out to move us (Unique Vanlines which conveniently is based out of Miami as well). Once Moving APT received my deposit, they washed their hands completely, leaving my babies and I stranded, and alone to deal with this moving scum they entrusted our property to. The movers they contracted were so awful, the FMCSA Involuntarily Revoked their Insurance and DOT#1951425 while they were in possession of my property, due to the number and severity of complaints filed against the.

I finally received delivery of most of my property. Whatever wasn't missing/stolen was damaged, crushed and broken. The furniture they disassembled upon pickup couldn't be reassembled at delivery because it was so bad.

The only thing Moving APT offered me for my "feeling of being inconvenienced" was $200. What an INSULT! The kicker...if I accepted the $200, I'd have to sign a waiver and agreement not to post any negative reviews. Well, after losing EVERYTHING, what's $200? Definitely not enough to keep me quiet!

Do yourself a favor... STEER CLEAR FROM MOVING APT!
