Mtn View Nissan Reviews

  • Jul 2, 2015

Read this report before buying a used vehicle at Mt View Nissan Chattanooga or Mt View Chevy. I will share my experience at Chevy as well further in this report. This report is facts only, no slander or bias.

I purchased a 2005 Ford F-150 Lariat 4X4 truch for new business at Mt view Nissan 2 months ago. I was told the truck had all points inspection, or whatever it is they called it. Sounded good, made me feel confident. Big dealership, service shop, nice looking truck. I wanted to make sure I had a dependable truck for my new sawmill business.

When test driving, we got in the truck, it sounded good. Joes Smith, the sales rep. drove the truck to begin with. We took it down the highway and parked at a store. The truck was turned off. We switched sides and I drove back to the dealership. I never stood outside the vehicle to hear it run, my mistake. Again, big dealership, nice people, surely this truck had the all points inspection and was good to go. Wrong. Made the deal and drove it home. Still thinking everything was fine. Pulled into my daughters yard and left it running. Got out.... What????? What's that ticking noise??? Could not hear the tick from inside the truck, still can't. Called Joe Smith back imidiately. Joe said, oh, those F150's are known for ticking. It's no biggie. He further proceeded in a nice way to tell me, this was an as-is sell. He was nice enough to offer help on purchasing parts if needed. Wow!!! $17,000 truck with $400 per month payments and I'm stuck. Needless to say, I was a bit worried. I had also noticed a spinning noise that would occur in the wheels as we were driving home. It almost sounded like loose metal or something. Didn't know what to think of that either. So I now have a truck with two issues. Keep in mind, I left the lot with these issues.

Issue #1 - "the tick" These triton motors are known for ticking and that ticking noise can be cam related and cost up to 3K plus to fix. Worst case scinario, I will just go ahead and replace the engine (5.5K) with a remanufactured one instead of spending 3k on a used engine. At this point, it could just be the VST sylinoids and a few other things might possibly fix the problem. I don't know yet. Do not have the money to take it to a mechanic. I'm starting a new business and was waiting till things kicked off to get it looked at.

issue #2 - the rattly wheels - Well, I looked up some videos and found the noise was most likely a maintenance issue with the 4X4. Today, for the first time, I back the truck into our back yard. The 4 wheel drive went complety out and I'm stuck.

The "Mt View" response from Thomas Williams - I called Mt View, I was pretty upset. Talked to the sales manager, Thomas Williams. Graceon was said to be on vacation. I let him know the problems from the get go and he looked up my info and pretty much said the same thing Joe Smith said, I'm stuck. No offer to help or anything.

my response - I let him know I would do everything I could to keep other people from getting ripped off. I let him know I would get my report at the top of google search and would spend money doing so. It is my responsibility to warn others. I do not want anyone to experience this sort of thing.

The "Mt View" response (sales manager)- The blame was completly shifted to me. I was told I could have took it to a mechanic and had the vehicle checked out. Yes, this is true. I should not have trusted Mt View's "inspection!". I was told by Thomas Williams I should have imidiately brought the truck back in when I heard the tick. I told him I called Joe Smith and he said I couldn't. Thomas preceded to tell me this is what he would have done. Again, blame placed on me and accusing me of lying I guess. He said something like this: "If i brough an $17k truck home and heard a tick I would have took it straight bakc". Again, I told him I called and Joe Smith said no go. Thomas said, "I would have brought it back anyway". So I asked him if Joe Smith was wrong. Would it have done me any good. Thomas said, "NO".

Bottom line, get any used vehicle inspected by an independent mechanic. Run diganostics and pay the $100 or so. You will experience upselling and shady tactics at most dealers I'm sure. This one is not different. Don't expect any special treatment once you leave the lot.

My experience at Mt View Chevy. - I originally went to purchase a Chevy S10 at the chevy dealer. I was approved and ready to make purchase. Turck was beautiful, but when I drove it, by myself, it had major problems. Oil pressure gauge would bottom out and engine felt like something major wrong.

While at Chevy, I was allowed to test drive the vehicle without a sales rep. At Mt View Nissan, Joe Smith initially drove the truck. Parked it, turned it off. I got in and cranked it up. My, how convenient. Drove back to lot and turned off the truck. Everything seemed fine. At that point, did not hear the 4 wheel rattle yet. That was later on the way home. Within 15 minutes.

Bottom line - Don't trust the dealers!!! I didn't really expect the company to resolve this issue. It would take a mighty ethical person to make things right. I was told by Thomas Williams he did not want to help me because I was threatening. If you call reporting the truth to as many people as possible threatening, I plead guilty. Keep in mind, this was after there was no offer to help whatsoever. Again, It was my fault no help was being offered. Everything was my fault. You know what, they are absolutley right. It was my fault for ever trusting Mt View Nissan. Unfortunately, Mt View is just another business abiding by the law. You are responsible for getting the vehicle checked out. Don't listen to the "inspection riff raff". Don't listen to the "it's been babied". The biggest warning signal is, "it looked like this when they broght it in, we didn't anything to it". It will sparkle and you'll think, wow, this was well taken care of. Be wise, don't be a fool like I was and trust a dealer. I will upload video of ticking noice.
