My son bought me a MasterCard gift card affiliated with mygiftcardsite.com. He got it the day before my birthday and mailed it in a birthday card, which I received a couple days after my birthday. I had never activated the card. I just set it aside to use at Christmas and now I tried to use it in Decemeber and funds are not there. I checked the transaction history and found that a transaction on the date my son purchased the card had occurred for the full amount. My son never used it. I didn't receive it until after the transaction date. When I look up mygiftcardsite.com, I find many other similar sites and get redirected to other places. I chose not to enter my card information into any of these sites for fear of a scam, so I called the 866.952.5653 customer service number on the back of the card. No help. This is a scam....beware.
Ok i tried to use a gift card i was given for my birthday . i went to a tobacco store to buy a bag of tobacco . when clerk tried the card it said declined he repeated same issue .. i left store went hom went online to view balance ect as i had just received this card .. i then returned to the store to make purchase again it was denied .. so i pull out the phone n call ... i was asked what type of store n purchase was i trying to make which is irrevlant but i told her i was buyng tobacco ... and she repeated question what type store i told her a head shop that sells tobacco .. she said gift cards are restricted from allowing certain types of purchases ... i find this offensive as on front of package the gift card came in and says clearly on front use anywhere .. was a 50 mastercard gift card .. that was registerd to me . now the state i reside head shops are legal as is tobacco ... so how can a credit card company say card can be used anywhere then refuse service due what your buying ?? this gift card is a beare instrument that cash was paid n the credit card is used in lieu of cash .. when is it legal for anyone to restrict my buying of a legal product ... does this not bear falsehood by the refusal n blocking of merchants because they sell pipes n tobacco ? needless to say i gave card back to person who gave it to me . they have original receipt for card purchase and are handing it over to their attourney .. i wanted to let people know mastercard and mygiftcardsite.com are doing this and i find it illegal and offensive that they can garner or control a persons buyign n selling ... they have no legal right n i find it unconstitutional this happens ... i could not use the card for buying tobacco and im 47 years of age ...
I went to Safeway in Hanover,MD. I purchased a gift card for 500. It is branded as 'MYGIFTCARDSITE.COM'. It is backed by USBANK.
I tried it.
It did not work.
This card used to work minutes after I purchased. The card even reads' YOUR CARD IS NOW ACTIVE. SO START USING IT TODAY'.
I called customer service as listed on back of card. No answer after 40 minutes holding.
Then i called customer service again. No answer after 40 minutes holding.
Then finally, after another try someone answered. They explained a technical glitch occured. I would have to wait 7-10 business days, after faxing in the card number, packaging, my name etc...
The next day I went back to the Safeway asking for a refund. They explained they cannot help me, because they do not refund giftcards.
I called Safeway customer service. They took my information. They told me they will get back to me hopefully Monday.
So USBANK is holding to my funds for 500 dollars (up to 7 days), after a promise to deliver product on purchase.
