National Income Reviews

  • Jul 24, 2014

I received a call from an HR Representative named Raji from National Income stating there were (2) positions available: Administrative Assistant and Manager Trainee. I chose Admin Asst because I have an extensive background as such and had no desire to be a Manager. We scheduled an interview for Thursday, June 19 at 9:45 am in their Flushing, New York office. I was to meet with someone named Salman, a Senior Manager. I traveled almost 2 hours out my way to arrive early. I get there about 9:25 and there are tons of other people there as well. Different employees are coming out and calling names of the waiting candidates. I know this is an insurance company and lots of people are interested in becoming an Agent. I get that, but I know I'm there for a different position. Before I could finish the mini-application, a guy calls my name...in my mind I look at him and say to myself "who are you?" Once I finished, I took a seat and waited until the person I am suppose to see comes out. Out comes a woman who was very cordial and took me to an office to ask a few basic questions. After that, I was taken to a conference room where the other people were seated listening to a speaker. I take a seat but not really interested in what is going on because I have no desire to be an Agent...I repeatedly said this to myself in my head.

The person I was suppose to meet, Salman, is the 2nd speaker. Although entertaining, I was wondering when I was going to speak to him. This never happened. The first speaker returns to wrap up the meeting, gives us a form to fill out (our option) and they tell everyone there is a 2nd interview later that afternoon. At this point, I go to the reception area and ask for Raji. The receptionist says she works at another office in HR. I asked about the position I was applying for and she also stated the only position that's available is what the General Manager was discussing in the conference room. Totally bogus!!! This was a total waste of my time and day. I could have spent those travel hours and time there with another employer who was seriously interested in discussing a REAL position. That was a total turnoff...I wripped the papers up and threw them in their trash. I left that dingbat Raji a message with no return call. She know what she did was wrong and I hope I never get to speak to her because she would get a tongue-lashing of a lifetime.
