National Merchant Alliance Reviews

  • Jun 30, 2014

After two years of doing business, I completely closed my retail clothing business in May 2013. I was using National Merchant Alliance of Overland Park, KS for my credit card sales processing.

Pursuant to their own rules I sent them a letter on May 3, 2013 explaining that we would no longer need their services as the shop had closed. All inventory was gone, the premises closed and there was no further business conducted what so ever. Later that year our CPA was preparing to file the final return when she informed me that we were still being billed by National Merchant Alliance each month for approximately $33.00. I was sure that was a mistake. Whe had done ZERO activity since our cancellation letter.

I contacted a manager Philip Beedle who essentially said he did not believe me and that I must produce some other evidence to "validate" my cancellation letter. To this day Beedle has "deemed" our letter as "never received" and therefore I still owe him all monthly fees and a $300 cancellation fee. When I asked him why our business reports reported ZERO activity and a ZERO balance for months he did not bother to at least question the situation.

I informed him that his own rules do not require some sort of additional "proof" that we cancelled with them. Even though they had billed me for 9 months ($297), in an effort to be fair I only asked that they refund $200.00. Philip Beedle became hostile, offered $98.95 and essentially said either take my offer or I will not communicate any you any further. Now he will no longer responds.

I have provided a copy of my cancellation letter and the email exchange to the Better Business Bureau to try and stop this business and its shoddy practices. Really the money is not the issue here. This issue is that National Merchant Alliance condones shoddy business practices and will cheat the consumer without recourse.

I would stay far far away from National Merchant Alliance if I were looking for a credit card processor. Why put your self and your business in and adversarial position with your processor when there are many others who will assist you and help your business grow.

Shame on you Phillip Beedle and National Merchant Alliance.
