Wow after 40 years with this fly by nite bunch, it is sad that they have to resort to extortion for their money, keep an eye on these guys they have thretened to cancel my ins erly to cause me a state fine be cause i finaly wised up and got a real ins company to do my ins. what a bunch of loosers. they more than likley will be going out of busness for i see lots of people haveing trouble with them now, could explain why you see so many camercials on tv about nationwide ins.

40 years wow think about that now a shadow of the former company, poeple do your home work there are lots of companys out there that are just as cheap on there rates and will not treat you like you are a kinergardener ok keep that in mind when you ge hook up with these guys they are a bunch of punks and will at some point talk down to you like you don't have any sence at all. not to mention will stab you in the back at the first sign of trouble, like an agent that will or does not do her job, and you will find that plentyful with these guys

I thought I was going to be employed with the same company until retirement but after 26 years, I found out that they were not on my side (or anyone else's). Nationwide only cares about how much money they are making. They also claim to be "diverse" but they really only want employees that are "members" of their "big boy" club.

Don't support the wrong sports teams and you had better be a republican! Sure, they let a minimal number of "different" people keep their employment... as long as they don't break any other "rules."

I was hired under the handbook that promised money for my health insurance during my retirement... as long as I was still hired at age 55. But then I noticed that several of us were being terminated at age 54... but only those of us that had a prior medical history. The guy who worked across from me had a hip replacement... and he was terminated at 54. I had a history of heart surgery... and I was terminated at 54.

Of course, Nationwide claims that my work quality had dropped... yet I was given more new assignments than any of my co-workers. I was also given extra assignments which included training newly hired employees (one of whom is my replacement). My last employee evaluation was practically identical to my previous one... yet the ending "grade" had dropped to "poor."

When I pointed out that their file review was full of mistakes and incorrect accusations, the only thing they said was, "Well, home office said to proceed with the termination." They would not let me defend my work. They also waited until the end of the day so they could get as much work out of me as they could. Then they told me that my health insurance coverage would end at midnight that same night! One final blow before I left the office for the last time.

It is very difficult to start over at age 54. I unfortunately had to use my 401K to make my house payments. Now I owe a small fortune in taxes and penalties. But Nationwide does not care. They are just happy that they will get to save several hundred dollars each month that would have gone to my health insurance. I can only hope that the people who did this to me will get the same treatment!

Of course, Nationwide lets a few people through the age/medical wall in order to keep the lawsuits down. Employees are also instructed not to talk to co-workers about how much work is being assigned, what employment plans are in place, and any other information that might could be used against the company.

In addition to my job termination, they also cancelled my homeowner's policy that I had with them for 25 years... because I have ivy growing on a brick wall! I sent them a 65-page study completed by the University of Oxford that showed the results of a 3-year study that states that ivy cannot harm a brick and mortar wall. This did not matter. I was told by an employee in the homeowner's area that they were instructed to find reasons to cancell policies that had been in place a long time without a claim! Their reasoning? If a policy hasn't had a claim in over 15 years, then they were "probably" getting ready to make a claim! On whose side? Not ours!

This is public record and can be found on the BBB website. My goal is to inform the public about Nationwide's unethical practices. Be careful out there people! Be very careful with your response to their questions. Do not consent to a tape recorded interview without a lawyer!

I am rejecting this response because:

The Nationwide response is a lie. From the beginning, I have been very open and honest about all previous damage. I did change the areas on the car filed in the claim because I was so tired of arguing with Nationwide adjusters that I gave up. I told the investigator to "screw it". Don't worry about the front panel or back panel because it's honestly not even worth fighting for because I was so tired of being bullied and pressured by Nationwide adjusters. The investigator called me multiple times while I was at work. I was so upset at work that I was shaking and on the verge of tears. He came to meet me in the parking deck at work to assess my car. I was so upset and frustrated that I told him to screw it. After I told him that, I knew I had made a mistake. I have been a faithful and loyal customer with Nationwide for over six years. I have never missed a payment or had a late payment. They should pay in full for my claim. I took my car to GM for an estimate. I know that some damage is prior damage. I showed the GM manager where the prior damage was so that he does not include that in the estimate. I had him give me an estimate for the top part of the back panel. That is prior damage and I am more than willing to pay for that out of pocket. Nationwide shot down my independent estimate from GM stating that GM is a biased third party. If we use that logic, then any where I go for an estimate is a biased third party. So how is that fair. This may be my first time filing a claim, however, I am not stupid. I am entitled to get my own independent estimate and it should be treated with respect my Nationwide. This did not happen and I will send copies of emails with Myron Furbay to prove it.

I am absolutely disgusted by how I have been treated by my own insurance company. I have been harassed and bullied by Nationwide representatives and adjusters. I don't care about the money. Honestly, I do not even care about getting my car fixed. I have no problem driving around in a ghetto beat up car. I mean it's just a car. To me it is about the principle of the matter. I am a paying customer. I filed this claim assuming that Nationwide would treat it fairly. Obviously, this did not happen. Nationwide even went as far as to demand that I meet with the investigator at the scene and give a tape recorded interview. This is absolutely ridiculous and unethical. Nationwide sent me a check for half the value it will take to fix my car. Honestly, I don't want their money. I plan on donating it to charity. However, I fully intend on filing a bad faith lawsuit against Nationwide. They emphatically state that there is no way a deer could have caused that damage. However, they have no real proof. Nationwide had some wanna be forensic investigator assess my car. Nationwide can use all the junk science they want. But there is no way they can prove with 100% certainty that the deer did not cause the damage to the doors front and back lower panel. As a loyal and paying customer, Nationwide is required by law to assess my claim in good faith. It is painfully obvious that this did not happen in my case. I fully intent to file suit and take my situation to local and national news. The public deserves to know what kind of company Nationwide is and how they treat their loyal customers. I can not believe that out of all their customers they decided to choose me to pick on and bully. And investigate me for insurance fraud. My credibility and reputation is on the line here. Obviously, they have no idea who I am because they messed with the wrong person. I will not let this go. And I will not take this laying down. This is not over by a long shot. Never underestimate the power of social media :)
