NetZero, Inc. Reviews

I purchased a 4G Stick from Netzero and it was delivered on Friday, July 3, 2015. It worked for a few minutes and then never again. I tried to get internet access which included access to the Netzero webpage for several days and could not do so. I entered a request for help and very little assistance was offered. On Monday, July 6, 2015 I contacted Netzero and cancelled the service and all withdrawals from my debit card. The rep tried to get me to keep Norton and I refused. She then asked me to come back to them in the future. Fat chance. She also wanted to send me an email on the Netzero email that did not work with the cancellation confirmation number. I had to tell her that made no sense so she gave it to me over the phone. I did tell her I wanted everything cancelled immediately and now it is late afternoon and the account is still open. I also called my bank and put two stop payments on my account to try to stop them from further withdrawals. I now have to go to the bank to withdraw all funds, cancel the debit card they have access to and have them reissue a new one to me which will take two weeks. I am going to report them to all sites I can find. They are getting away with this scam and need to be stopped. I do not understand how they stay in business. They need to be shut down. I have thrown money I desperately needed down the toilet for their horrible service and products.

One of their emails informed me that I have to go outside to be able to get access to the internet with their product. Are you kidding? I cannot sit outside every time I wish to access the internet.

Anyone out there who is considering them DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THEM AND DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES.

Save yourself from the nightmare I went through.

Would like to join a Class Action Lawsuit if I can find one.

Top Ten Reasons Netzero Is The Worst Company I've Ever Used

1. Netzero's internet service rarely works. I am a customer and the service is so bad, I started keeping a journal of disconnections and service failures. But whenever I would alert Netzero and ask them questions, they never answered them. Instead, they would send a template email stating their wireless internet service cannot go through walls, glass, etc. Can you believe that?! The purpose of wireless internet service is to go through walls, glass, etc.! Other companies have been doing it for years and continue to do it without any problems. Cellphone companies do it too. But Netzero admits that they can’t do it. Yet this doesn’t stop them from selling the service, even though they can’t provide it.

2. On the very rare occasions that Netzero's service works for a few minutes, they limit the amount of data you can use, which is ridiculous because the other companies provide unlimited data in the same price range.

3. Netzero has a “Data Usage Report” that is supposed to help you keep track of your data so that you don’t run out. But the report doesn’t work. It will deceive you by telling you that you have plenty of data left when actually, you don’t. Then you will run out and Netzero will try to get you to buy more.

4. It appears that Netzero takes data out of your account even when your internet modem isn’t plugged into the wall and your computer is turned off. One night I checked my report and I had used 20% of my data. I unplugged the modem, turned off my computer and went to bed. The next day I turned my computer on and connected the modem and the report stated I had used 28%. So it seems that overnight, Netzero took away 8% of my data away while my modem was unplugged and my computer was off. I notice that this happens often.

5. Another method they use to take data away from you is when you are in the middle of a download and the internet connection fails and you have to download the file all over again, which uses twice the amount of data.

6. Another disturbing reality is when Netzero won't allow you to check your Usage Data Report at all. There have been so many times I tried to check mine, only to receive this message: “There was an error processing your request. Please try again in a few moments.” So I tried again. It still didn’t work. So I tried again a few moments later. It still didn’t work. So I spent the entire day trying. It never worked. By preventing their customers from being able to keep track of their data usage, the customer is more likely to run out of data. Then Netzero will ask them to buy more.

7. Apparently, Netzero's internet service doesn’t work when it rains. Yes, you read that correctly. When it rains, I can’t get on the internet.

8. Netzero’s internet service is so bad that when you call their customer service line, you immediately get a recording that states: “We are currently experiencing heavy call volume. You may wish to call back during “non peak hours of 9pm – 2am”.

Can you believe this?! This demonstrates 2 things: 1. Netzero’s internet service is so bad that their customer service line experiences “high call volume” from all of their customers who can’t get on the internet throughout the day. 2. Netzero expects their customers to go without internet service all day until 9pm, then call for assistance.

9. Netzero’s service didn't work for an entire weekend, so they promised to give me a credit, but never gave it to me. I was without service for a whole weekend because it was raining. When I finally reached a Netzero customer service rep, they made me troubleshoot for over an hour and 10 minutes, then finally admitted that their service doesn’t work when it rains. They they promised to give me a credit, which they never did. When I inquired about it a week later, they said they weren’t going to give me anything. So be warned: Netzero lies.

10. Netzero refuses to hire American customer service reps. When you call, you wait on hold forever. Then you are forced to speak with someone in the Philippines, which is a complete nightmare of miscommunication and frustration. Personally, I don't think Netzero should be allowed to do business in America if they aren't going to hire American customer service reps. So many Americans need jobs.

In summary: Netzero is the worst company I've ever used. I'm looking at several other companies that are more reliable, less expensive, and have American customer service reps.

I ordered Netzero mobile broadband January 8, 2015. The customer service agent I spoke with did not speak English very well. It was very hard to understand her. She sounded as if she could be from Trinidad or Africa. She asked me if I would use the mobile broadband at home or away from home. I told her both. She said that would be fine. She also asked me how I would use the internet device. I told her I needed it for online classes. She said that 2000 megabytes would be fine and sufficient. I received the mobile broadband device Janaury 12, 2015 and was only able to use it for two days for my classes. When I tried to log into the internet I was told that I had to upgrade my plan to 79.95 a month because I had used all of the data for the month. On top of that Netzero failed to tell me they were billing me for February January 12th, 2015 as soon as I set up the account. So does this makes sense to anyone else? I am billed for next month when we are only in the middle of January, and for two days only could I use the mobile broadband. I am going to advertise this all over the world. This is so wrong.

I signed up with Net Zero net back in November 2014. I first called them on the phone and they tried to sell me on their "hot-spot" service device. I chose to just pay for the "stick" (it was cheaper and it would do the same thing for me -- I did not need to log on several computers at my home).

I am sure glad that I chose the "stick" for my Desk Top in that I have since had several reports from friends who are very upset with the "hot-spot" service.

I did not know at the time BUT net zero net is not just ONE big company but rather many companies who contract with Net Zero net to provide "service" in what ever location the person lives. I am sure glad that I live in the DFW Metroplex because if you live in a region that does not have great "tower" service then you are in for a letdown.

The best down load speed that I have ever gotten with the Net Zero net "stick" is 884 Mbs. This is fine for what I need but does not even come close to a MAJOR SELLER of internet access (Verizon -- my neighbor gets 7000Mbs - but then he pays over $100.00 a month.

Also, in the area that I am in, the local businesses are going to provide wi-fi for all those that shop their resturants and are within a 3 block area of the business district. I will be using the "free Wi-Fi" and use the Net Zero stick when I go on trips. When this happens, I can drop down to their less expensive service.

Good Luck and Happy Surfing

I signed up for Net Zero Internet Services. I ordered their basic package that only included e-mail & online shopping. I was also limited to 6,000 MB of data. After a couple of months, I noticed extra charges added to my bill. When I phoned to inquire about the charges, an employee in their billing department told me I "Accepted an Unlimited Game Option" which I never asked for & never heard of. The billing employee repeatedly said that I accepted the Game Option. Net Zero's employees are obviously well trained in the art of broken record. After I repeatedly told the moronic employee that I would not pay for the game option, she said she would credit it on my account but she would not credit the previous months. I also received notices each month that I had used up my data which was impossible - and that I would have to buy more if I wanted to continue using the internet - just another way Net Zero rips off people. I cancelled my Net Zero & now have another wireless internet provider with unlimited data for the same price Net Zero was charging.

The speed was too slow, although it was labelled as "high speed dial-up". My old PC may have have contributed to that, but I never used it except for reading my email, via the webmail website. I no longer use the old PC at all.

The real kicker came whan I tried to cancel my service. I stated right off that I was no longer using the PC. Yet the service rep kept discussing upgrading. After repeating several times I just wanted to close the account, the rep asked if he could put me on hold for 90 seconds and I repeated once again I just want to close the account. He said "just give me a minute" and I said ok. When he comes back he informed me they were closing the account, but would keep providing the Norton Anti-virus software and bill-me $10.95 a month. I started another "let me make myself clear" statement, then figured "what's the use" and hung up. I cancelled the credit card and disputed their last monthly invoice that had today's date. Never again.

Warning. Do not fall for this scam. my services was interrupted after only 4 hours of poor internet service, and I received an email telling me that I need to pay extra to upgrade in order to have access to the internet. Otherwise I would have to wait for the next bill cycle to have access to the internet again. what a joke!!! I received the modem today and within a few hours of ridiculously slow internet, they shut down their pathetic service and demand more money!!!!! These guys are desperate thieves and will get what s coming to them!!!!
