New England Orthopedic Surgeons Reviews

  • Jan 22, 2015

Roughly 6 years ago, I went to the ER and got an xray of my left knee, and was told to see my doctor because there was a lot of water on the knee. He referred me to New England orthopedic Surgeons (NEOS) who simply did the pivot test, asked what I had done to it, and was promptly told the injury I was feeling was impossible with what I was describing I'd done. I was sent on my way. No MRI. No meds. No instructions. Nothing.

A year later and three different doctors who wouldn't believe there was anything wrong, I finally found a doctor who listened to me, did an MRI, and found that, as I had originally thought, both my ACL and meniscus were torn and needed surgery. The surgeon I saw (due to fear of not wanting to waste my time with NEOS again) was sub par and actually botched the surgery. Though, that's not technically the fault of NEOS. Again, in December of 2013, I went into the ER due to a knee injury (right knee, this time). Once more, a pivot test was done and I was sent on my way. At least this time I was given a knee brace. But, again, no MRI or anything else. I was told it was a sprain and nothing more. Two more doctors who told me that if NEOS said there was nothing wrong, than there was nothing wrong. Fortunately, I now have an orthopedic specialist who actually listens, because, once more, I was correct. I have been walking around on a torn ACL (which healed, albeit poorly, on its own since its been so long) and a torn meniscus for over a year, which I will finally be getting surgery on. It is not right how many people receive sub par treatment simply because doctors think everyone is a hypochondriac so they won't do the proper tests needed to diagnose. I am young and almost everything about me makes no sense as far as doctors are concerned, but I've never once been wrong about what was wrong with me. It is ridiculous that I had to ensure this kind of pain and inability to live properly due to mobility issues. I've been depressed, gained a large chunk of weight and have had to rely on my wife and children to help me with many remedial tasks and couldn't enjoy all the activities I should have been doing with my children over the last year and year in the past. They missed out on many things and I missed out on parts of their lives as well.
