New Yorker Boiler Company, Inc. Reviews

  • Dec 8, 2014

We had a brand new New Yorker Oil Fired Boiler installed in our home in WA state. Before we could even fire the boiler up for the first time it became glaringly apparant that the entire cast iron block core was riddled with cracks with water leaking into the firebox like a sinking ship. Even without any expertise on boilers, I could tell 100% that this cast iron block was completely useless and unrepairable. I have now spent weeks and weeks placing calls to New Yorker Boilers and still have not gotten a response from the company. Meanwhile we've been freezing in the Seattle winter with no heat in sub freezing temps for almost 2 months. This boiler is supposed to have a warranty, but all I am getting is the runaround. The distributor for the midwest (not from the actual NY boiler company) said that there was some small chance that New Yorker Boiler company might send me a new iron block if I send the boiler back to them at my own expense. This boiler is well over a quarter ton and it would cost me as much as the boiler is worth to hire a company to come and cut off all the pipes, remove boiler from my crawlspace, and then truck it back to the east coast. And after spending all that money, there is absolutely no guarantee that the New Yorker company would even honor the warranty. Then I would be out a boiler that cost seven grand with install, plus another 2k for returning it. Basically this company has a fraudulent warranty and incredibly poor customer service. Actuall, to be fair, their service isn't bad....they have no service. Once you buy the product--they will pretend you do not exist.
