Open Montessori Initiative Reviews

  • Aug 6, 2014

Back in April of 2014, I went online seeking educational grants for my daughters; one of which is special needs, that will be starting school in August of 2014. I found a website for Open Montessori Initiative, which stated that it was created to make Montessori education more accessible to a broader spectrum of children and their families. I followed all of the instructions provided on the application; including completion of the $41.00 School and Student Services Parents' Financial Statement (SSS PFS), two checks in the amount of $20.00 each for application fees, and I paid extra to send the application materials certified. Besides the fees associated with submitting the applications, I spent a significant amount of time and energy preparing 2 applications which included a lengthy application packet, letters of acceptance from the school, IRS tax returns, and receipts for the SSS PFS application. I submitted my daughter's applications (certified mail) long before the due date stated on the website of (July 1st).

About 4 weeks after submitting the applications, I received the same package in my mail. The postal service had a stamp on it stating that it was undeliverable. I immediately went on the website to search for contact information, whereby I only found email addresses and no phone numbers. I sent emails to the following email addresses: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected]. At this point, it has been over a month long, and I still haven't received a response from any of the contacts provided on the website. Apparently, this organization no longer exists, but the website is still up. It would be nice if they would update their website with a message stating that the organization is no longer in operation, so that people won't waste their time, energy and money on something that doesn't exist. If the company is still in operation, I would like an explanation as to why my application was never received, and why is it that no one responded to the emails I submitted.
