Penske Automotive Group, Inc. Reviews

  • Apr 2, 2015

I would like to warn people about Penske Automotive Group. I went to one of their dealership Ferrari-Maserati of Central New Jersey in Edison, NJ. Penske Automotive Group is a lying, cheating company.

I called the dealership and bought / leased a 2014 Maserati Quattroporte. The salesperson promised to send out pictures of the car after he cleaned of the snow of the vehicle. We received the pictures and decided to go there and test-drive the car. When we arrived to the dealership they told us the car is not there, because it is at the Detroit Auto Show. This was the 1st lie. They told us the car has around 1000 miles, but it turned out to be around 5000 miles. They said they would deliver the car on a flatbed. Delivery day came and they called me there was a problem with the flatbed truck and they could only drive the car to me. They arrived couple of hours late. Parked the car in the garage and came into the house to sign the paper.

Then went back to the garage to go over the car features when we noticed a large scratch on the hood, what they tried to buff out, but did a horrible job. Also there was a nasty damage on the rear wheel. Also when we were sitting in the car there were some female cosmetics in the rear door pocket. On the dashboard the some warning signals had to be reset and the service require warning sign was on. I called the dealership and they told me I already signed for the car so it is mine.

I contacted Penske customer support. Michael the senior VP of Penske Luxury division called me and said he would take care of the problem. Try to locate an other 2014 car to replace the damaged one. They couldn’t find a 2014, so Michael told me they have only 2015s. It would cost me more, but didn’t have a choice. They e-mailed me 2 window stickers to choose from. I chose the white car with the brown interior. They promised again the flatbed delivery, but a day before the dealership manager called and told me that Michael the VP of the Luxury Division said he wants us to go to the dealership to pick up the car. So we did. We signed the paperwork and left the dealership. On the way home my wife tried to put on the heated seat in the rear, but it turns out there was none. Also there was no rear sunshade as it was on the window sticker what they e-mailed me out. As soon as I arrived home I called the dealership and told them they gave me the wrong car. There was only the last number different in the VIN. The manager said the car we received was the car Michael said we need to take. They fired the salesman for lying, but they should fire Michael for lying since he sent out a different window sticker. That car what was delivered has fewer options than the car was promised. They are charging me for a more equipped car, but delivered the less equipped vehicle. It’s about $2000 difference between the two vehicles. This is a fraud. Sending out different information and delivering something else. When I called Michael he said if I don’t like it I could return the car and go somewhere else to do business. It is unfair that I’m paying for features what the car doesn’t have. This is not the way a luxury dealer does business. Cheating, lying and ripping off customers.
