Processing Dept Reviews

I received a letter stating I was a "winner" (you are really an i.d.d. winner!) exact wording. guaranteed cash prize now awaiting to pe paid..amounts totaling $3,062,814.00 "please accept our good wishes......"

$20.00 report fee required for processing; Identifiaction # 10098051158

with an "official looking" bar code on the letter.

i receive these types of letters at least once or twice a day- 6 days a week! from multiple addresses. This all started when I played some publishers clearing house online games and bought some merchendise from them. The merchendise was received in good order and I have no complaint with publishers clearing house- however- it seems since then- my name, address etc has been sold or "handed out" or somehow made available to all these other ficticious "sweepstakes" reporting scams.. This for the lack of a better name I believe is mail fraud- Using the us mail for scamming activities. my question is: when will the u.s.postal authorities bring down the "roof' on at least some of these ficticious "sweepstakes frauds"? The letter was signed by a man named "peter mouk" (as near as I can make out the signiture?) with a name of "dana parsons ; recording agent.

This was a two page document, page 1 having the customary "fine print" consumer disclosure expertly printed on the reverse to look "authentic". needless to say I did not send any reporting fee. i have never received any dollar amount from any of these, nor any sweepstakes of publishers clearing house. i suspect this complaint is only one of many thousands received daily for these types of operating mail scams and do not expect any real action to be made to stop these scams that prey on fixed - income retirees and others who are down & out on their luck and are hoping in vain for some sort of miracle sweeptakes win. I realize it is a fact of life in a free society we have in our country to allow this, however morally unacceptable it may be for would-be criminals to exact money from unsuspecting people,it would be nice to receive perhaps only one or two of these things a year instead of 6 or more a week! this unecessary use of mail fraud also trickles down to the economy and the increased cost of postage etc that is put on the shoulders of it, delivery costs of junk mail, misuse of government funds, waste of taxpayers money and natural resources to create the need, paper, & wood products etc to manufacture all this. it is indeed a trickle down knee jerk activity that in the end does no good for anyone-not to mention time to file these reports that should not be necessary in the first place.
