Rail Europe Reviews

  • May 6, 2014

I bought 4 train tickets for me and my family of three for London to Paris Route on Feb 14, 2014 on line. I tried three times but the website gave a problem. I called call center two time and after leaving a message, a lady called and said she would charge ,me $15 to make a resevation for each person. I decided to m,ake the reservbation myself. Anyway, I bought the four tickets. The tickets gave the option of printing at home or at the station. We arrived at St. Pancreas train station 1 hour before the departure on Feb 14, 2014. I went to a ladt behind a booth at the train station and asked her where I could print my boarding pass as I misspled my printed boarding pass. When I asked the lady she looked at me and she said under what name I made the reservation. I gave my name and showed her the email confirmation from Rail Europe with the link to boarding pass and she responded no reservation was found. I paid $375 for those tickets. She directed us to the main office. At the main office, we were advised that no reservation were made under our name and booking . The lady behind the counter sough the help of her boss. They went to search on another computer and they found no reservation. They even checked 3 days before and after our departure dates and could not find our reservation. They said this type of incidents have happened before. We were so angry given the fact we checked out from our hotel and have two small kinds 6&7. We retuned to our hotel although we did not the reservation. The hotel said they didn't have availability due Easter weekend. We went to another place. We called a couple of travel agencies for the flight to Paris on the same day. We decided not to buy airplane ticket since it was very expensive. We also could not rent a car in London due to left-side driving and one way trip to Paris. We decided to go back to train station the following day and we had to pay 602 British pound to secure our ticket. Upon my return, I called Rail Europe and they said they could not help since I didnt have tbe printed boarding pass. I said I didnt go to another planet. I went to a train station that I was supposed to leave for Paris. After 4 communication I am still in fight with them. They cant simply rip me off becauase they are corporate. I end of paying about $1,575 (602 pound=$1,200 plus the orginal tickets). I am preparing another copy to FBI because they need to also know who is ripping off who. It is really annoying when your voice can't be heard and big consumers agencies are boasting they are protecting consumers. I have NOT seen one!
