We, too, were victimized by Regions Mortgage forged documents scam. We had purchased a beach condo in approximately 2004 for approximately $200,000 secured with a mortgage from Regions. In 2005, we sold our home for $450,000 and moved. Of course, title searches were performed and the liens on the house paid. The market crashed in 2007 and we continued to pay on the condo which dropped in value to $40-$50k. After we lost our jobs as well we tried to do a deed in lieu with Regions or a loan modification. They wouldn't consider either. Four years after we sold our old home they filed a fake mortgage against the old house and tried to take it from the new owner. After years of litigation and a fortune in attorney's fees, the title insurance company paid Regions to go away. The title company's atty knew that Regions had committed fraud. No institutional lender waits 4 years to file a lien. It is done immediately. We have been forced into bankruptcy and have lost our entire life's work and are starting over when we should be retiring. We are destroyed but they aren't accountable for their filthy deeds.
