Rented a car on 22 July 2014. Gas guage read 7/8 of a tank. Before returning car, I filled the tank, topping it off. I still have the receipt from Valero Corner Store. The gas guage still read only 7/8 of a tank. Upon returning the car, I notified the [female] manager of the issue with the gas guage, and showed her the receipt showing I had indeed topped off the tank. Manager was all smiles, not only assuring me that I would receive my deposit back, but actually handed me the receipt showing the amount was being credited back to my Mastercard (I still have said receipt). When the refund did not post, I called Rent One for explanation. I was told by this same manager that I had returned the car with only half a tank of gas. I tried to refresh her memory, but she was adament. She even told me there was nothing wrong with the gas guage. She went on to tell me I owed her an additional twenty dollars, which she would be charging to my Mastercard. I told her I do not authorize this debit, and that I would be notifying my bank of this fact. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau as soon as I am done here.
