Ritz-Craft Corporation Reviews

Name of the company should be Shitz-Crap

Bought a custom designed "treetops" model from a HACK in Vergennes VT last JUNE. Tons of excuses for TONS of delays. House showed up December 22. Craned onto foundation Dec. 29/30. Then the HACK (Town and Country Homes of Vergennes Vermont) didn't show back up till the fifth of Jan. SOME of his crew was there on the third and fourth. After the roof being left bare plywood for 3 1/2 weeks, we got water damage in the master bedroom ceiling. I pointed it out to HACK. He said "no problem, we'll take care of it". Very next day, SECOND line of icicles in master ceiling. Twelve feet long! Gently chewed HACK out, and told him to dry the rest of the roof in before he left for the day. To SPITE ME, THEY DID NOT! MORE bullshit excuses and false promises. THIRD day, THIRD LEAK! Now in Master Bathroom ceiling. They pulled the frozen plywood up, leaned it inside the knee wall area over the Master bath, and put a heater in there to thaw the ice, which, of course, ran down into the insulation and finished sheetrock in the master bath ceiling, causing the leak over my Wifes' custom vanity table. Then I Yelled at the HACK and basically told him to get with it. Two days later, he was paid almost 1/4 million dollars for the house, and initial "set". Two days later, he took all his tools, AND some of MINE, and QUIT! Ritz-Craft has done absolutely NOTHING about the problems even with their own design/ordering foul ups. Broken windows, jacuzzi tub in BACKWARDS, $6,000 glass walled shower not even glass walled. Grout falling out of everywhere grout is supposed to be, $5,000 oak staircase BROKEN and STAINED beyond repair, WOOD BURNING fireplace ordered is a gas/wood "heatilator". NOT EVEN CLOSE to safe for hardwood fire all winter. NO chimney. The flue pipe is made of tinfoil. The "drystack" stone we ordered and payed for is cemented up fake rocks that look like a drunken third grader put it up. Paint on the "stones", CROOKED mantle supports, NOT raised for hardwood flooring like the rest of the house, and OSB under the hearth that had 3/8 inch gaps in it for sparks to burn the house down. Not even cement/Hardy board! Hack never even called for a SINGLE building inspection, when there were supposed to be at LEAST twenty six SO FAR! Since the HACK quit on Jan 26, we have had at least TWO more water leaks in the cathedral ceiling. THAT STILL ARE LEAKING! Town and Country is a FRAUD! Ritz-Craft isn't far behind. We've been after them since Jan. 10 when I first called BRIAN CUNNINGHAM (sales rep) BEGGING for a visit to check on ordering issues and what the HACK was doing to our investment. My Wife finally spoke with BRUCE CRAVEN (head engineer) and he PROMISED to be up in the "next couple of weeks" to assist us. Neddless to say, that was the last time we even got a response from the company AT ALL. THEY STILL HAVEN'T SHOWN UP OR CALLED!

We have an appt with an attorney tomorrow afternoon, who supposedly "specializes" in construction "resolution". I'm not holding my breath there either. STAY AWAY FROM RITZ_CRAFT! ESPECIALLY TOWN AND COUNTRY HOMES OF VERGENNES VERMONT! Owned by HACK PAT WHITLEY with a mailing address of Panton VT.

Disclaimer: This whole story is 100% TRUE! Several issue have been left out for the sake of carpal tunnel syndrome. These experiences and their interpretation are MINE and MINE ALONE. Strictly MY OWN OPINION! DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST!

For the lsat few years we've been passed off or ignored about things in the home and we are the original owners and the house is less than 10 years old. We have cabinets with no doors because they keep falling off. We've called and emailed and begged for help and they keep passing the buck. Our home looks like it's falling apart and it's embarrassing. Literally we have open cabinets and no doors because they are in pieces! We've had some come right off the wall. I wish I could post photos on here.
