I joined Roomster in the hopes of finding a potential roommate to help me pay the mortgage on my home. There appeared to be many on the site who matched my interests in a roommate. I sent a mutlitude of email and decided to pay for the 3-day subscription in order to read and respond to any messages I may receive. Without a subscription, you cannot read any e-mail. I received two email from a woman who was not even in my "matched" list.
I took her information and attempted to contact her. Within 24 hours, her account was deactivated and recieved no responses from any others I had messaged. Today, I check my bank to see that this site has renewed my subscription without notification and has upgraded me to a monthly payment plan and is in the process of taking the money from my account. I tried to email the help desk since there is NO phone contact information...I have been notified that I received a response from them, however, when I log into my account, there is no new email.
Please help me stop this company from continuing further. I am interested in legal action. There is too much evidence of faulty accounts are being used to email new customers in the false hope that someone is interested in their advertisement; thus prompting the new customer to begin a subscription to read the "interested party."

Sophomore year of college, I moved into this house next door to where all my friends were living in Boulder, Colorado. I didn’t know my new roommates, but they all seemed like chill dudes. They smoked a lot of pot, but it was Boulder and who didn’t? My first few months, I noticed that a lot of high school students would swing by the house, then leave a few minutes later. I started getting to know my roommates better, and quickly discovered that they were among Boulder’s most notorious drug dealers. They were cool with me, though, so I just stayed out of their way. One time, a family of authentic, off-the-grid hippies (complete with a 5-year-old boy named something like “Stargazer”) came and set up a tent in our backyard that connected to our living room via a sliding glass door. They sort of occupied the living room and backyard for a few weeks, and stole shit out of my bedroom. One night, I was sitting in the living room alone, and all my roommates burst in the front door shouting. One of them was bleeding from his nose. They ignored me and kept shouting about how they we’re going to “go back and get those fuckers” and each went to their rooms. A minute later, they all came back out with handguns and ran out the door. I asked to end my sublease early the next day, and I think the hippie family moved into my room as soon as I left. No idea what happened to any of them.

I am a dog walker in New York City and I have a very high profile clientele, with celebrities and socialites on my client list. I joined Roomster in the hopes of finding a potential roommate to help me pay the mortgage on my home. There appeared to be many on the site who matched my interests in a roommate. I sent a mutlitude of email and decided to pay for the 3-day subscription in order to read and respond to any messages I may receive. Without a subscription, you cannot read any e-mail. I received two email from a woman who was not even in my "matched" list.
I took her information and attempted to contact her. Within 24 hours, her account was deactivated and recieved no responses from any others I had messaged. Today, I check my bank to see that this site has renewed my subscription without notification and has upgraded me to a monthly payment plan and is in the process of taking the money from my account. I tried to email the help desk since there is NO phone contact information...I have been notified that I received a response from them, however, when I log into my account, there is no new email.
Please help me stop this company from continuing further. I am interested in legal action. There is too much evidence of faulty accounts are being used to email new customers in the false hope that someone is interested in their advertisement; thus prompting the new customer to begin a subscription to read the "interested party."

When I graduated from college one of my dreams was to move to New York City and become a journalist. I used to date this girl who was what you might “eccentric”. At first I loved that about her. She’d surprise me with the most bizarre and spontaneous things. This continued for a few days until I finally got a restraining order against her. Unfortunately she didn’t care and would continue to harass me at my home. I knew I had to move. I found Roomster online and thank god I did because I don’t know how much longer I could have dealt with that craziness. Lets hope my next girlfriend isn’t nuts!

Thanksgiving is usually a time to spend with family, being grateful for their existence and stuffing your face with food. This year I had a very different experience. My roommate is from Colorado and initially he told me he was going to be going home for the holiday to be with his family. Knowing I’d have the place to myself I thought it a perfect opportunity to host Thanksgiving for the first time. I invited the whole family and was really looking forward to hosting. The day before Thanksgiving my roommate was supposed to fly home but he got super wasted and missed his flight. I woke up the morning of Thanksgiving to find him unconscious in a pool of vomit on the living room couch! Literally dumbfounded as to what to do my family showed up a few minutes later while I was trying to clean up/wake my roommate up. We ended up leaving the apartment because the smell was too much to bear. After this whole ordeal I moved out and found a great room to rent on Roomster. I live in a three-bedroom apartment on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. One of my roommates I have been living with for about three years and we get along great. Our schedules are pretty conducive to a working roommate relationship and everything was fine. We had this girl living with us but she moved back home to Thailand so we needed to fill the room. We found this kid through a mutual friend of ours to rent the room. He was a young college student and at first we thought it would be a good fit but it turned out not to work out for a number of reasons. He was constantly smoking pot in the apartment and it really stank up the whole place and was very distracting. We were even starting to get complaints from other apartments on our floor. My roommate listed the dog on Craigslist and told the buyer to go to my mom’s house to pick it up… We ended up getting the dog back after a long and confusing discussion with the lady who bought my dog. It started off with her stealing food and escalated to her stealing stuff like jewelry from my room, then WEARING IT IN FRONT OF ME and insisting it was hers. One day I went through the house and took all the toilet paper, Kleenex, towels, etc., I could find and hid them. Then I laced a hot dog with Ex-Lax and left it on the counter. Took her about five minutes to steal and eat the hot dog. I once had a roommate who didn’t speak to me for the first few weeks that we lived together. After living together for about a month, he sent me a text telling me he was filming a video with a friend and to not come into the basement or make noise. That made me uncomfortable. I went to the basement when he and his friend had left and found that there was film equipment and the walls had been covered in foam padding. A few weeks later, I spent the week of Halloween watching horror movies in my living room and noticed the parade of guys he brought in; one even went down into the basement for a while and came back upstairs with his head shaved. A few nights later I went to the basement to pee because my roommate was upstairs, and when I got to the bottom of the stairs I found a pair of dominatrix boots. OK. Then I went into the bathroom and found a pair of huge dildos on the toilet tank. Over the next few months, I found other things, like bondage masks, more filming equipment, lists that gave an overview to the ‘actor’ what to do (things like, ‘cup balls with hands’ and ‘wait’). One day he even sent me a text telling me that I should get out of the house for a bit because he was filming a video and he didn’t think I wanted to be around to hear it. It turns out I was never officially on the lease (surprise! He never turned my paperwork in), so when I started finding blood in the bathroom on knobs and handles, I peaced out so fast. A friend recommend I try Roomster to find a new roommate and place to live so I made a profile and ended up finding some really great people to live with. The site was reasonably priced and they have a ton of rooms available in a million different cities and areas at all different price points.

I lived with this guy who was a little weird and very controlling — the kind of person who desperately wanted you to think he was chill but was the literal opposite. He and his girlfriend would have extremely loud sex to Pandora’s techno station, but because he did not have a subscription, in the middle of them going at it you’d hear “Nchnchnchnch — advertisement: Are you a vampire?? — Nchnchnch.” Anyway, between having sex to techno and vampire ads, he would break up with her and then call his dad to cry/yell about how she was a horrible, immature person. I finally decided I didn’t have to live with this crap anymore so I started doing research on good places to find roommates. I ended up finding Roomster through a different site but I went with them because it seemed like they had a lot of rooms available and the prices weren’t bad.

I had a great apartment, but needed a sub-letter to move in so that I could finish out the lease. When this girl Denise said she could move in AND pay all five months up front, that sounded great. The bad part was everything that followed. She was ambiguously employed and would be up all hours doing coke with her friends, sleeping all day, and generally acting like an insane person. One time, I woke up in the middle of the night, and she was sitting on the edge of my bed talking to me in a creepy whisper voice, saying, “I’m so mad, Julie. I’m so mad.” I don’t know what she was talking about, but I tried to usher her out as quickly as possible. Eventually I got rid of her and listed the room for rent on Roomster. I had a fantastic roommate for two years who put up with a lot of shit from me. The most memorable thing that happened was when a blue whale died and washed up on a nearby beach, so I got up the following morning at 4 a.m. to take a quick look at it before work. I brought back a chunk of baleen with me and stuck it under my bed. By the time my roommate woke up the room REEKED of dead whale and continued to do so for at least three days even after we put it away in a Tupperware container. It was really gross. She ended up moving out and I had an empty room and bills to pay. A friend of mine suggested I list the room for rent on Roomster after they had used the site with great success. I found an amazing deal for a room to rent on Roomster after I had the most bizarre experience ever. Sophomore year of college, I moved into this house next door to where all my friends were living in Boulder, Colorado. I didn’t know my new roommates, but they all seemed like chill dudes. They smoked a lot of pot, but it was Boulder and who didn’t? My first few months, I noticed that a lot of high school students would swing by the house, then leave a few minutes later. I started getting to know my roommates better, and quickly discovered that they were among Boulder’s most notorious drug dealers. They were cool with me, though, so I just stayed out of their way. One time, a family of authentic, off-the-grid hippies (complete with a 5-year-old boy named something like “Stargazer”) came and set up a tent in our backyard that connected to our living room via a sliding glass door. They sort of occupied the living room and backyard for a few weeks, and stole shit out of my bedroom. One night, I was sitting in the living room alone, and all my roommates burst in the front door shouting. One of them was bleeding from his nose. They ignored me and kept shouting about how they we’re going to “go back and get those fuckers” and each went to their rooms. A minute later, they all came back out with handguns and ran out the door. I asked to end my sublease early the next day, and I think the hippie family moved into my room as soon as I left. No idea what happened to any of them.
All their functionality is perfect
I had the worst roommates ever. They were letting their cats/ferret shit on the floor and not cleaning it up for months, leaving crusty pots and pans on the stove a week after cooking, and one of them vomiting in their bed and not cleaning that up for three days (yes, they did sleep in it like that). At one point, I was sitting in the living area trying to get some studying done when one of them comes out from their room and burps in my face after giving her boyfriend a blowjob. I think that was the cherry on top. I moved out the following week and found a really great deal for a room on Roomster. A friend recommended the site but I had no idea how amazing it really was. All their functionality is perfect o that you don’t waste time on people or listings that wont work out for you in the end, they clearly worked very hard to get this right.
Roomster was a lifesaver.
I used Roomster to find a new room to rent back in April. I lived with this one lady from October 2013 until April 2014. I call her a lady because in her Craigslist ad she said she was about eight years younger than she really was. That was the first sign. One incredibly early morning after a very loud argument with her boyfriend/baby daddy she woke me up and insisted upon showing me her gun, which she said was pink and had Hello Kitty on it. I declined, but she was insistent. I also remember one morning when I wake up to hear very loud…moaning. It’s coming from the living room, and I assume her boyfriend is there. I proceed to get dressed for work, and wait for a pause in the action so I can walk past the living room and out of the front door. As I walk by, she jumps up and says, “Oh my god, I thought you were gone! If you had come out just a few moments earlier that would have been really embarrassing. Turns out there was no boyfriend — just her. In the living room, on the couch, in the middle of the day. After all these incidents I got out of there real quick. Roomster was a lifesaver.

I am a journalist and recently began a piece on unsustainable fishing practices in this particular coastal village in Alaska, because of their unsustainable fishing tactics the local wild salmon population was dwindling to nothing. I knew I needed to be closer to the action to conduct my investigation properly so I looked into renting a cheap place up there while I conducted my research and finished writing my piece. I found exactly what I was looking for on Roomster, no fuss no hassle just simple and easy to use. Found a great deal on a room to rent in a local residence hall. Glad I was able to find a solution that enabled me to do my work properly and that didn’t break the bank!

I recently moved into this apartment with a mutual friend of my cousins who was in a similar situation as me. We both just started new jobs and had similar schedules. At first we were getting along really well but I started dating this girl and she started staying over more often than not. We were getting intimate and my roommate was starting to complain that he could hear us making love all night and that it was keeping him up. I found an amazing place
I am an art dealer who recently got an opportunity to work with a very respected gallery in Italy. I have been working independently for the last few years, building up a client base and network so that one day I could open my own gallery. I knew that this opportunity would be an amazing one that could take my career to the next level. I immediately went online and started looking into where I might be able to live while I was over there. I ended up spending most of my time on Roomster, they seemed to have just so many room sit was hard to se e me needing to look elsewhere. I got final confirmation that I got the opportunity so I went on Roomster and created a listing and within three weeks I found an amazing place to rent and it was so easy! Have you ever had a situation of a bad roommate? Well I just had the worst experience ever. I had this roommate who apparently got into some bad situations with some bad people and owed the wrong people money. How did he deal with the situation? He stole all my valuables and pawned them to pay off his debt! I’m talking thousands of dollars worth of belongings ranging from electronics to clothing /jewelry and other valuables. I had no choice other than to file a police report. They arrested him and I was left with an empty room. I listed the room using Roomster and was very happy with how easy the site was to use. I had no trouble making an account or my listing and their features are extremely helpful. I found a nice kid who just moved here to rent to. Overall very happy with Roomster.
I saved my money using Roomster
I just took a freelance job at a clothing company in Norway who brought me on to redesign one of their existing menswear collections. I was going to be there for about a year working on the project. The company said they would handle my living accommodations while I was there so that was great. When I got there I was taken to my new place and I was amazed how nice it was. I asked my boss where they found the place and they told me they found it on Roomster. I’m not familiar with the site but the place they found me was absolutely spectacular and I couldn’t be happier with their choice. And I’m sure it was affordable because I doubt they would spend a lot of money on this.

I recently joined Greenpeace and I went with them on a trip to Africa to help build sustainable water wells for villages facing drought issues. I knew I was going to be gone for six months at the least so I wanted to sublet my place while was away. I did some research online and decided Roomster would be my best bet of making this happen. I created a listing for the available place and started messaging back and forth with some people. Eventually I settled on this nice young professional to rent the apartment and it turned out great! Now I am on my way to Africa and could not be happier knowing that ill be saving some money while working abroad

I recently got a job working for a Press Relations firm in Nashville that does press for all the major Nashville record labels. It’s always been my dream to work in the Nashville music industry and here was my chance! All I needed now was a place to live! The HR rep at the new company suggested I give Roomster a try, she highly recommended it. I made a profile and created a listing and found a super cool place to rent that wouldn’t break my budget! The site was as easy to use as promised and I am so happy I will now be able to pursue my dream!
Turned out to be a great fit
A good friend of mine just started his fashion venture. He creates these really cool, distressed Rock and Roll inspired t-shirts and leather jackets that he hand-paints. He’s been looking for a place that he could work out of because his apartment was extremely small. We went on Roomster and found him a nice room to rent in an artist loft that had outside access so he could do his painting outside (The fumes can be quite strong). Turned out to be a great fit he was able to use the space when he needed and now his company is starting to gain some really great attention!
What was great about the site was.....
I am a dog walker in New York City and I have a very high profile clientele, with celebrities and socialites on my client list. I had this roommate who started exhibiting allergic symptoms after I brought some of the dogs to our place, apparently he had developed a new allergy to dander over the years. Suffice it to say he couldn’t stay in the apartment it got to be too much for him and he moved in with his girlfriend who lived nearby. Once the room was vacant I put a listing up on Roomster to fill it. After like two weeks I had been exchanging messages with a few people and I found a really great guy to rent the room from me. Good thing he didn’t have pet allergies! What was great about the site was that I was able to limit it to people who were ok with pets, which was necessary given the circumstances.

I knew this guy who I started dating, he was really nice, had a good job, came from a good family and I actually believed we might be a potential match for marriage. After three months of dating he started exhibiting really strange behavior. Some days he would disappear for hours on end, I wouldn’t be able to reach him at all.
