At Royal Dominion Homes, we believe that in a time where costs are being cut to preserve profit, a builder that refuses to sacrifice quality and integrity will succeed."" That is taken directly from Royal Dominion's Facebook page (as of May 5, 2014, where they also deleted a review the day after we posted it) and could not be a more ironic business motto. We have, in fact, experienced the exact opposite.

Getting Royal Dominion to follow through on their promises has been a nightmare, and only caused further problems. First of all, a final walk-through of a house should include insight from the purchaser on things that might need to be looked at, fixed or re-done. When my realtor asked why blue tape wasn't brought to the walk-through, the building manager replied that it's a perfectly painted house and there's no need for that. Well, there is no such thing as a perfect house, no matter how good the builder is. We moved in, and I had to send several emails and go up the chain of command until I finally got someone who would honor an agreement I had made with Royal Dominion to trim some branches that were overhanging the house, and would potentially cause damage in the future. The building manager refused to help me with that, so it was like pulling teeth. Eventually, his supervisor said they would honor the agreement. Therein begins nightmare #2.

First, a young person came by one day with a chainsaw that didn't work. He disappeared, and returned the next day to cut some trees down (I had never asked for trees to be cut down, only for branches to be trimmed). Next thing I know, I hear a loud ""bang"" and the side of the house is damaged. I immediately address this issue with Royal Dominion, and their reply is that they did it as a favor to us and they're upset because it incurred more damages to them. Well, maybe they should have hired someone insured and/or bonded to do the work?

Speaking of that, after much more trouble I finally got Royal Dominion to agree to take down the branches overhanging my house- the trees that were cut down had very little to do with the branches that were attached to larger adjacent trees and were still hanging over the house. This new contractor left his business card, and after doing damage to my newly landscaped yard I looked him up to see if he was even licensed (as his business card claimed)... nope, it expired several years ago. No wonder he damaged my yard.

I asked Royal Dominion about this, and to date I have not gotten a reply. I also texted the building manager FOUR DIFFERENT TIMES asking whether there would be a reoccurence of a recent event in which much of the street in our neighborhood was flooded by a lot of rain- I have not gotten a reply from him as of May 5, 2014. It was an important question, as I need to decide whether or not I should purchase flood insurance in case my property might get flooded in the future. My current policy does not cover that.

Going back to the statement on Royal Dominion's Facebook page (as of May 5, 2014), I am NOT one of the ""satisfied home-owners"" they speak of. I certainly hope that other people have had a better experience, because mine has been a living nightmare. Do things right the first time, and make the customer happy.
