I started a company with this individual. I made a lot of mistakes, as this was my very first venture. Turns out, he is not a developer at all. He targets older people or unknowledgable people needing developer work done. Websites, logo design, apps etc. He subcontracts the dev work out to programmers from India and upcharges the customer for very shoddy work.
But, I found this out after the real issue occured. I recieved an overdraft notice from the bank our investment account was located. We had $80,000 for investment, but only placed $15,000 in the bank to let the rest accumulate interest until we atually needed it. All but $2,000 was wasted. He bought a PS4, went to steak dinners and paid bills etc with the other $13,000.
It is 100% my fault that it was able to happen. We were waiting on contracts to be finished with thier 3rd and final draft, and all the language to hold him culpable was in this unsigned document. Every idea at the table was my idea, and since we also hadn't yet filed a copyright or patent in Trifecta Development's name, he's right now trying to take my idea and find a new investor to rip off/lie to/embezzle from.
He may be operating under MARS Creative, which is also a venture of ours. The purpose of this post is not for legal help or some consumer advocate's help, because my situation can't be helped. It is to alert as many people as possible that this man is a liar, a fake and a thief and will absolutely prey on you if you come his way with money in your hand.
Be careful and do not go into business, even with friends, without major thought, a lawyer, another lawyer for a second opinion and a stack of legally binding contracts signed. Sounds like a no brainer, but I gave a man I trusted the benefit of the doubt. It won't happen again.
