Scotty's Automotive & Collision Reviews

  • Jul 16, 2014

Scotty's Automotive, in Roanoke, Texas came recommended by a friend of mine, who is a nurse, like myself. He spoke highly of their work and also said they were very reasonable. I had a transmission that was about to die, and I had taken my car into Christian Borther in Dallas, and they wanted more money than I could afford to repair the transmission.

So, I brought the car in. I actually towed it it, as the vehicles transmission finally died, as predicted by Christian Brothers the week prior.

We left it with Scotty's, who agreed they could fix the transmission. They called us about a week later with the estimate and then said they would let us know. It took awhile to fix, and several weeks later, we learned that the transmission work was done. WELL, we then get a phone call from Scotty, saying that he SUBCONTRACTED out the work to a "GUY", and that while this "guy" was DRIVING OUR VEHICLE back to Scotty's, the "check engine" light came on. The "guy", did not know how long the light had been on, and then the car either died on the road, or he pulled it over and then it died. Not sure. So, the "guy" had it towed back to Scotty's, and there it has sat for the last 3 1/2 months. 1. I gave my car to Scotty, not some guy that is obviously incompetent!!! Scotty will not repair it now (even though he initially said he would do it at around cost) and "The guy" that he subcontracted the work out to, has GONE OUT OF BUSINESS. Scotty has had an excuse every week for the last 3 months why he cannot repair the vehicle. He uses a new excuse each time. "Engine has not come in", "We had to send the engine back, wasnt right", "we are waiting for another engine", "this engine was not right either...had too many miles on it..." NOW, he is aluding that he wants more money to fix the engine (the one that, up til now he has not fixed yet???) and he is NOW saying that it is our fault the engine died, because we did not take care of it, and that there is sludge in the engine.

Still, he will not fix it. He is basically waiting us out, until we get mad and just go away. As he knows it was his responsibility to keep the car under his control...instead he trusted "Some guy" with it, who likely damaged the vehicle beyond repair. We have aready spend 2,500.00 on the transmission, and now we have to spend another 4,000 on a car that I still owe 11,000.00 on. Very convenient that it is our fault, when the engine was fine when it came to Scotty.....and NOT FINE, when that "guy" (Who we will never know, as he is out of business now) got behind the wheel, and DROVE OUR VEHICLE, god KNOWS WHERE AND DID god KNOWS WHAT TO IT.

BTW, NEVER buy a USED Lexus Rx300, as I now know that their transmissions do not live very long...and are basically crap. BTW, I bought the car only TWO YEARS AGO at auction. The warranty expired the month before this mess happened.

Anyway, we are calling our insurance company on Monday (Again) and then we are calling our Lawyer...and of course I have affidavits from Christian Brothers AND from my OIL change place...which has my record of oil changes etc...

Scotty has, so far, accepted NO responsibility for anything that has happened in the matter. What kind of horrible person is that??!!

FYI: I should have paid the extra money to Christian Brothers, it would have been cheaper. And, I have told my friend he knows NOTHING about cars, OR mechanics!!!

BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!! BEWARE!!!!!!!!!! BEWARE. This is ruining our life right now!!!!! Thanks alot Scotty!!!!
