Without any prior written contact from this company we are receiving phone calls from 'collection agents' wanting immediate over the phone payment for accounts that are allegedly past due. They refuse to provide a copy of an original invoice, all they will send is a past due notice. They have threated legal action to collect on the account stating to our staff that if it goes to court our company will not even be allowed to speak..the judge will assume that we are lying about never receiving any confirmation of requesting their services or receiving any initial invoice requesting payment. There is no address for their company on their past due notice. It took 15 to 20 requests before they would even send us the past due notice. Telephone calls to the telephone number provided were answered but the person who received the call was only interested in collecting payments and demanded to know how this number was obtained for their company. By DEMANDING immediate payment over the phone and refusing to provide any type of documentation to substantiate their request for payment as being legitimate the entire episode screams of fraud. Also, multiple attempts by companies with similar names (ie: Search Link, Search Data, etc) to collect for similar past due amounts under the exact same circumstances of never having previously invoiced for services and being unable to provide any original documentation appears to be the same group attempting the same fraud. Realisticly a product or service must be invoiced in order to be submitted through accounts payable for payment. Companies expecting payment without proper billing are immediately flagged as potential fraud. Harassing telephone calls of the type we have been receiving are also immediately red flagged as potential fraud.
