I purchased a 5-year extended warranty for my GE Profile Dishwasher in mid 2012. After many repairs, we decided it wasn't worth the hassle anymore because it leaked and repair work was usually sub par. I called SPA in April 2013 and was told by one of their authorized representatives that the $344.00 premium for the unused 44 months of coverage would be prorated and returned to me. I needed to send them a letter of cancellation with refund instructions, which I did.

When I called SPA today (May 10, 2013), to check on my refund I spoke to Dave (Operator 0243) and he informed me that the fine print Terms and Conditions would not allow a prorated refund because I had repairs that totalled $500.00. As such, my refund would be zero. I told him that had I known that, I would have kept the extended warranty for another 4 years. Told me that they would not reinstate the policy and I would have to buy a new policy. Said that I needed to read the T&Cs carefully and that there are many unqualified SPA Agents that don't understand their policies very well. I was told Buyer Beware!

I am now without a\n extended service policy and am not able to reinstate the balance of my 5-year extended service warranty on my GE Dishwasher. This is a total ripoff, sad that companies like this are not regulated by the Govenement and they can get away with such unethical business practices. How many people are qualified to read the fine print. I was never given a copy of the T&Cs from SPA, guess that's my problem.

Stay away from these guys.

Purchased a 3 year contract to cover my washer and dryer that is a GE. The contract indicates that it is for a washer and dryer combo and the model serial number matches my washer.

Twice I scheduled a repair and the repairman refused to fix my dry indicating that it is not covered. ( All I needed was a screw in the door replaced)

I called the service scheduling number and indicated that the repairman refused to fix my dryer. They then indicated that the dryer id number is not on the contract. I asked why not since it was on the original application and my contract is for a washer dryer combo. After 3 months of additional appointments, and the contract not getting updated and phone calls to claims and escalation it became obvious that any excuse to not perform repair would be used over and again.

Finally indicated that I wanted my money back because if the contract indicates this is for a washer and dryer combo but they won't repair my dryer I wanted a refund.

The letter was sent November 4, 2014 and I have not received a letter, email , phone call or credit is response. So some claims person must have gotten a bonus for not having to do a refund on this. And this company can continue to lie about the service they claim they will provide.

So I will take my option here to at least warn others that this company will gladly take your money and schedule appointments with local repairmen who know that they will not get paid and then will refuse to do the work. They also refused to correct their own paperwork error since they already have their money and they can then opt out of paying for any actual repairs.

Sadly the offer for this service came with a GE return address for my GE appliciances and I consider this a stain on their name in allowing it to be used for a company that misrepresents what they are selling and uses multiple names to hide behind.

Refrigerator

After years of paying for the service I needed a freezer blower motor that cost me 91.00 I was told to scrap my refrigerator and buy a new one. They aren’t to smart since I have my washer drier and dishwasher insured with them. Now I am looking for a new company to handle the whole house. Frank
