I ordered and paid (via PayPal) for a custom sight for my rifle from this one horse company almost a year ago without ever receiving it. I have emailed the owner, Josh, (the only way to contact) several times and all I get in return are "cute" responses but no product. I threatened to expose him to the internet as a rip off and I got an in my face response. The product may be a good one but I will never know. You would think for a lousy $45 order no legimate business would expose themselves to internet wide criticism. I don't think Josh cares. Buyer Be Ware!

Takes orders for items they do not have in stock

I recently ordered an adjustable front sight and accurizng kit for a 91/31 Mosin Nagant rifle. I paid for the order through Paypal so Smith-Sights received their money up front on the order. After a week of not getting an order conformation or a shipping conformation I emailed the company. I was informed that it would take 2 months to fulfill my order as they did not have the front sights on hand.

My complaint is that they are taking orders for product they do not have and give no feedback to the customer as to when or if they will ever receive their order.

To me this is unacceptable but they are the only suppler for the front sight that I need. They are going to ship the accurizing kit they have and I will have to wait for them to get the front sight back in stock.

This company uses very poor business practices with its customers so I would very cautious dealing with them.

I will probably not do business with them again.

Me too.

Josh claimed the Post Office lost it and he'd send a replacement.... then nothing.

From what I've read the guy makes a good product but according to multiple complaint boards as well as the BBB, he just can't seem to deliver. Whenever anything goes wrong, his solution is to ignore the customer. Just another small-timer in a sea of losers.

Happend to me, also.

I also bought a sight from this guy back in early June of 2014. I waited the 90 days to contact him, as it says on the website... Now it's October, and I have received no sight or responses to emails. I recommend everyone avoid buying anything from this guy, because I haven't heard of anyone actually receiving a product from him. Only losing their money or getting a run-around, if they get any response at all. I'm not sure how this sort of thing is legal, and allowed to continue, but it seems to be.
