I rented 913 Spring Glen Dr. from South Carolina Home Corporation for a year. When moving in we deposited $2,100.00, but received only half of our deposit in refund. When we moved in we took pictures of the carpet, it was stained. Upon our 6 month inspection by "Kevin," we showed him three window blinds that needed replacement, he said he would talk with the owner, but that was the last we heard of the matter until we moved out. Upon moving out we were charged $300.00 for blinds, and $20.00 for the replacement of two HVAC Air Filters! To add insult to injury we were charged $395.00 (you might as well say $400.00) for "deep cleaning". Now what's interesting about this is that we had paid Merry Maids hundreds of dollars just less than two weeks before moving out for a "deep cleaning". We were also charged $187.00 for carpet cleaning. I feel South Carolina Home Corporation has overcharged us by at least $520.00 unfairly.
While we were renting from South Carolina Home Corporation we were told repeatedily by service personal that South Carolina Home Corporation ran a deposit scam. That they would withhold much of our deposit and find reasons to overcharge and that this was where they made part of their income from the rental business. I know believe this to be true. "Kevin" also promised our refund in a week, it took a threatening phone call and a month and two weeks to get half our deposit back! We got back only $1,48.00!
