Drew Steele will promise to find you work, but then simply collect a deposit and disappear. He put an ad in the paper, saying his company, Steele Management, was looking for actors and actresses, and I went to his office in downtown Toronto in May 2014. He was very charming, and told me had I was the perfect age and had the perfect look to be an actor. He also said it would be easy to get me work, and the work itself would be easy. I was disappointed.

After not hearing from him for a month, I called his office number and sent him emails. I NEVER spoke to an actual person, just left voicemail messages. I left him over 10 voicemail messages and sent him over 10 emails, and never got a response. I got a new agent, and have met other young people who had the identical experience with Drew: he meets you, charms you, he collects money and then you never hear from him again.

Steele Management has received money from me as a client and has provided zero service. I have been unable to contact the owner or any staff. A little over a year ago (September 2013) I had joined 'Steele Management' which is suppose to be a model and talent agency. You see, most people complain that management businesses like these didn't get them booked or didn't go anywhere etc. but I acknowledge that an agency can only do so much for you as your talent determines whether you have a chance in the industry.

In my situation, I spoke to Drew Steele which I believe is the owner upon signup that their policy is that you pay $100 as a management fee and that if they don't get you at least one casting within one year the money will be refunded. I had paid and literally received no service or followup. Every time i tried to contact him he said he was busy and to call back, upon calling back the line wouldn't go through or he is still 'busy'. After more than a year of trying to get any kind of service. they even got rid of the phone line so you cannot even call. I have sent several e-mails and received no response. Most agencies at least put your picture on their website to say they at least did something for you but this agency did nothing. Actually, the times I did manage to get in touch with Drew, he was telling me about how he was looking into opening a restaurant which leads me to believe he is ready to bag my money and leave the industry entirely. This is no different from taking a customer's money and giving them nothing. At this point I have been left with no choice but to file a complaint as there is no way for me to contact the company to discuss with them.

$100 in ways isn't a lot of money but out of principle what I have experienced is ridiculous and in my opinion is consumer fraud. It wouldn't even be worth filing small claims however if there are a number of people who have experienced the same thing, be sure to keep the receipt he gave you likely stapled to his business card like mine and e-mail [email protected] - I would be willing to file a class action if there have been a number of victims like me.

I am taking steps to talk to the Canadian anti-fraud centre. I urge other victims to call too as it would provide more weight for an investigation.

Steele management is a rip off dnt waste your time or money because that exavtky what u will b doing by going to them. I saw there as on kijiji that they are seeking extras for commercial thought this would be a good idea for my niece as it was approaching summer and she would be out of school . I called he told is to come in initially on the phone he advised me there would a 100$ charge and tht would be refundable if he doesn't find her any job as an extra... Brought my niece in and he stated he think she would be better as a model bc there is so many jobs available .... I told him I was interested and would rather just signed her up as am extra and if she made money then I would use that and contribute towards a photoshoot...I ended up signing her up as an extra I still haven't revcieved a single gig for my niece initially he told there are so many jobs available but yet still he did not get her any .... I called him and badically told me he will not be giving me my money back .... There u go ppl Andrew Steele is a rip off he is not a real agent he wnt get u any job u will b only wasting time and money with tht agency I hope no one else has to deal with him.

Let's get connected

I am seeing how many victims of steele's steal there are. I have a created an email [email protected] I would like to document as many people like me as possible and maybe file a class action law suit if we get enough people and get everyone's money back. Just send an email to that email so that I have record.

I responded to an ad on Craiglist http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/tfr/4368057181.html for extras needed for film, tv or print work. I got a call from Steel Management requesting that I went to their office for an appointment on march 21st. I went that day, filled out a form with my personal information and then went into Andrew Steele's office, I told him I was interested in working as an extra but he said that with my look I could get work in print or commercials and make much more money.

I would have to get a photoshoot with his brother Gabriel Steele. He offered a double roll if i decided right away. He told me he wasn't accepting cards, gave me directions to an ATM so that I could pay in cash. I gave him $260 and would have to pay the rest, to complete the $450 on April 5th, the day of the photoshoot.

The day before Andrew called me and said the makeup artist was not going and that he would call me back to re-schedule. ..... That never happened so I called him on April 11th and told him that I wanted a refund because my photoshoot never happened, I also told him I found out of his past 22 charges on fraud and he got very agressive, he started shouting about how that was a lie of his competitors and that he was going to go to my house if I told anyone or wrote about it on the internet and that he was going to leave me without a penny. I hang up and he called me again, I did not answer and he left a voicemail threatening me, that he would sue me for slander. I got scared because he has my info and called the police.
