Suburban Propane Reviews

This is not the first time this has happened. This company consolidated small owner/family operated gas companies into a conglomerate - when they first allowed my gas to run out August 2014 - the call operator kept reading off a pre-written card that the reason I ran out of gas is beause " I used more gas than I told them I would', my fault & they would not cover my oversight - No gas company asks a customer for an estimate of usage that I know of, just a list of services running on the gas supply. At Thanksgiving I called them and demanded they fill the gas to prevent a repeat of the August situation - they did not respond and fill my gas until 18 Dec 2014. Today, I was cooking a steak and the flame went out on the stove. I called and threatened a class action lawsuit if m gas was not filled in 2 hours at 1430PM. The person on the phone was useless. I received a call from the local gas company and he was nice and expalined he was not them - but I am bull-s***. He is supposed to be on his way over to fill my gas - but if there is any extra charge attached or if he is not here by 1630 m I want to file a Class-Action suit against Suburban Propane. If he tries to get additional fees from me I will refuse and if he wants to access my house I will refuse also.

I was told by an employee of Suburban Propne that the regional manager(Ken Pittam and Cal Calanchini) stated in a conference call that they said they did not care about how high the prices are and that the stock holders come FIRST!! This completely opens everyones eyes to how they do their pricing! Who cares about the customer!!! Get all you can out of them!!! BTW They would not take my calls! Go with Campora Propane for all your needs. Suburban will be out of business soon enough with those practices!

I was paying an average of $67 per month until my automatic payment authorization expired. Suburban immediately raised my monthly rate to $343.47, claiming that winter heating costs more. FIVE TIMES MORE???

Suburban is redlining senior resident mobile home parks to gouge the elderly.

We live in Leonardtown MD.We buy our Propane from Suburban.

We have no choice. It's their tank. It came with the house. SUBURBAN rips its customers off.

$5.09 for a gallon of propane, plus delivery, plus tax, plus hazmat, plus tank leasing fees. A complete rip off! We are on a prorated monthly fee. Suburban lowered the fee and then sent us a bill for $2300 and re-adjusted our monthly payment to $734.

The company is run by idiots. When we called, they said they had made a mistake in the monthly payment so we have to pay the $2300 by August and then $734 a month. It's nice to know that we have to pay for the mistakes of a billion dollar company.

Why should they care? They are idiots.

Suburban sent us a bill stating that we owe almost $3000.00 above our budet amount. when questioned they stated that that gas rate went up to $4.52/gal. And when asked they new notified us they just stated how can they tell everybody about increases. Upon checking other companies they are at $2.40/gal big differance. They are scamming the public big time and I think the government should get involved.

Where do i begin, As i am a current and long term costomer for over 20 years, I went on budget and still continue to have issues. Within my last couple deliveries there have been numerous problem with tou company, your prices as well as your customer service. I believe these problems have gone on long enough and need to be addressed immediately. This now has been an ingoing issue that i will no longer let continue. As it stands you are currently charging me outrageous prices on my propane supply, while contacting your customer service agent in this regard the only response i get from them is ""inflation"" there is a high demand for oil. This demand is a false statement out of their mouths and should not affect me in the way it has. I believe the customer service agents should be more polite and understand with customer regards such as myself, when i have been a loyal customer for over 20 years. AS i stated above the last few service times is when these problem have come into play, price gouging is a crime that your company is taking part in. Therefore i want this addressed immediately.

The last time your company was at my residents they were told not to come back and that we did not need a refil of propane at all til further notice, however your company took it upon themselves to come while my husband and i were not home and fillled our tang. We simply received a bill in the mail informing us of this charge, however this should have never accured in the first place if i had told your customer service agent that I refused to continue service! If something read this report i would like to make a matter out of it because it is an ongoing problem and i believe it to be illegal! Thank you in Advance

We pre-purchased propane for the year and used all of our pre-purchase amount and had to buy more from Suburban. They charged $6.20 per gallon for the additional fuel.

When I called to ask why it was so high they said that it was the market price. I explained that I had visited a web site that had pricing from across the country and that nobody had prices anywhere close to that high. When I mentione contacting the FTC Roxanne said that they could negotiate the price down. She offered $4.25 and I asked for $4.00. After being on hold for an extended period of time, she returned to accept the $4.00 offer.

While I was on hold I discovered a similar report on this site with almost the exact same details. I explained to Roxanne that what they were doing was price gouging and that the FTC needed to know. She continued to apologize. I asked her if she had other complaints and she was very vague. I called (((competitor's name redacted))) and they said their high price for the year was $3.62. We are going to switch propane suppliers.
