Sunset RV terrible!

I was looking for my yelp review, I will resubmit it, with more details that this. This company is terrible. I saw the review above and understand. We also bought a brand new RV and paid cash for a new 40 foot diesel. They never fixed repairs, they promised and we have had several problems, their service department is terrible and even returned our rig dirty. We took it to poulsbo RV to get it repaired, and this was a brand new rig. Our salesman Mike was no help at all. DO NOT GO TO SUNSET RV IN FIFE!!!

Purchase of Forest River Cardinal 3800FL fifth wheel RV--stock #N385

I have copied 2 letters of communication to sunset and continue to have no resolve and continue to find defects in this new RV. I have filed complaint with BBB and Attorney General. I have a fabulous RV expert technician lined up to do all the repairs, but I hesitate as I believe we are owed a new defect free unit that we agreed to purchase.

This is a follow up to the letter I sent you dated March 9, 2014.

My previous communication to you was regarding my lack of confidence and concern in getting the initial defects repaired prior to our first extended stay that began March 30th. I did not have confidence then, and that lack of confidence was sadly validated as our Forest River Cardinal was never picked up as expected. The majority repair of defects have not taken place. In addition to the list of initial defects, noted below, we now have many more to add to the list. **I have to say, for a RV at new value of $114,000. We are severely “ripped off”.

Initial defects to be fixed: (5 of the 9 items below are still not repaired and we purchased this RV in Jan. 2014)

Unit to be de-winterized and detailed/cleaned for interior and exterior wash. It was delivered with sand all over floor in front of the refrigerator dust and dirt in and on top of all cabinets

All kitchen cabinets not closing properly/aligned.

Fantastic fan in kitchen repaired as it did not work upon initial delivery.

TV in front storage compartment missing and we were told it was removed for delivery and not part of our purchase. Chris, our sales person, confirmed that the TV in the storage compartment was the selling feature and upon service tech visit to replace, he discovered this unit had never had a TV installed as the installation holes were never drilled. This is obviously not the unit we looked at when we decided to purchase. Still have a broken TV mount bracket from your team pulling it off another unit on your lot.

5. The bedroom vent do not produce warm airflow with proper airflow from furnace and both bathroom and bedroom spaces are freezing cold compared to the kitchen and living room.

6. Water damage to front side wall, ceiling molding, TV surface warped.

7. Water damage to bedroom ceiling molding in both slides…still not inspected for wall damage

Exterior body damage to paint –gouged in 2 areas.

Dining room window not sealed and streaks from water leak on interior wall.

Sunset Service Tech, was out here a week ago and documented the NEW ISSUES. One issue being a SAFETY HAZARD. As of today, we have not heard one word from anyone on resolve. 2 weeks ago my husband had communication with our sales person, and was expecting an executive of Sunset to follow up. NEW Defects and Safety Hazard discovered the week of March 31st: (it is now April 13th and I still fear sitting at the end of my bed

1. Moisture at exterior corners of both bedroom slides, more excessive than typical condensation. The rubber seals on these slides have hardened and not sealed properly.

1. Bottom corner of the shower has exposed metal where the exterior casing/finish has been gouged.

2. The interior of the shower has fill holes in efforts to cover up the obvious damage upon install.

3. The wall in bathroom next to the sink has 5 fill holes that clearly stand out from previous punctures of some sort.

4. The tankless hot water heater, we paid $1,500 cash for the unit as well as the “professional installation”. This unit was not installed properly. The fan is not balanced, the water was cold and hot and we were instructed to reduce water flow….when in fact the result we desired was accomplished from opposite direction. This tankless hot water heater was obviously not tested for proper installation prior to our delivery. The propane and water pressure both impact the function of this unit. Nothing was inspected by your installers and we had to figure it out for ourselves. The dysfunction of the fan from installation has still not been addressed.

5. I sat on the end of my bed with my husband and was thrown to the floor. The head of the bed lifted and the foot of the bed almost crushed my leg when I fell to the floor. Thank God my husband was there to stabilize the head of the bed. There is apparently only 3 screws that were actually on the floor and not installed properly to stabilize the bed. We have been told that 3 screws to anchor this bed is not industry standard.

6. When the initial water damage was discovered you re-sealed only the areas on the roof where you found obvious water leaks. It was clear at the time, as it is now obvious that you didn’t inspect and repair the entire seal on the roof as it is separating. THIS RV HAS NOT BEEN PROTECTED FROM THE ELEMENTS FOR 2 YEARS AND WE ARE NOT CONFIDENT IN THE WARRANTY FOR LONG TERM MOLD AND MILDEW ISSUES DUE TO SUNSET RV LACK OF INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE.

7. The drawer extensions in the bedroom do not allow the proper full functionality of the drawers.

8. The cupboard door has gouge at corner.

9. No cable access to TV in living room, no way to get to cable access to TV in bedroom as the installation of the TV is fixed, not on flip up hinge as expected.

We are convinced of the following:

Sunset RV has never inspected this RV

Sunset RV has not taken proper precautions to maintain and preserve the structural integrity of this RV

Sunset RV wrote up a sales contract and delivered us a different RV than the one we looked at when we decided to purchase.

RE: purchase ofthe 2013 Cardinal 3800FL

Thank you in advance for your time and attention. I wanted to share with you how we are currently feeling and give you our perspective. We are overwhelmed, disappointed, and lack confidence hat we actually have a ""quality-new"" Front Living Cardinal that is

valued over $100,000.00. We found the Front Living model online and we found out you had one in inventory and escorted my husband and I to see it at your RV show at the Puyallup fairgrounds last August. We knew as soon as we walked through the Cardinal that we would have to own this RV for retirement. We have always owned Keystone RV's so this was new for us to give another manufacturer our business. We had recently purchased a 2O13 Keystone Cougar and could not finalize the purchase of this Cardinal back

in August. From August through December, my husband and I saved our down payment of $11,000 knowing we would take a severe financial loss due to our negative equity. We were confident enough to know that this would be worth every penny to own the ""front living dream RV"" that we had talked ourselves out of buying through the last 2 purchases that we made with Tacoma RV. My

husband and I have learned through our past purchases that each new RV needs a ""break-in"" period prior to planning the first major trip, Some things that we have experienced with our previous new purchases are loose wiring in AC unit, slide motor stuck, or shower doors not sealed at the bottom. With that history we knew there would be a similar break-in period that we wanted for the

Cardinal before we have our first major trip or extended stay.

It is now March 9th and we purchased this RV in January. We have yet to sleep in it one night. Our initial pick up was delayed from our purchase of the tank-less water heater and getting the door painted then even longer due to slides leaking and waiting

for parts. The Service department ended up delivering the RV to our home since they missed the window of time that my husband was off work and able pick it up. We had it delivered with a minimal walkthrough that my husband could not leave work to attend. When packing to prepare for a short local trip I found out that we were delivered a unit that wasn't dewinterized, it wasn't cleaned,

and none of the kitchen cabinet doors would shut properly. There were several other things we found when trying to get it ready for first local trip that made us cancel our trip as we weren't confident in the unit being ""ready to use"".

For example, the fantastic fan in kitchen wasn't working, the window in dining room had streaks down the wall from leaking...the list goes on and your service department has all of the details. We had a service tech come out to assess after we could not fully function and he found more issues than we hadn't discovered yet. *Your Service Tech has been very helpful in teaching us about our RV and has an awesome professional attitude in dealing with our continued issues and disappointment. Through his inspection, your service tech found water damage in the front of the RV that is severe and has warped our wood surface, cabinet, wall and molding. With that much water damage, how are we supposed to have the confidence that mold is not growing behind the walls? The result of your service tech coming out to inspect led to a trip back your shop again for repairs. There had to be a seal added to the top of the dining room window that was missing and now I have to question if we will experience mold issues since the seal had never been installed. The furnace venting had to be cleaned as the air was not flowing properly through to the bedroom and bathroom vents etc. Before we brought it back we also discovered the TV for the front storage compartment was missing. The unit that we walked through had this TV

when we decided to purchase. Since our RV had to go back for the additional repairs we took the opportunity to add vent covers and we purchased a new hitch that was installed in my husband's truck. We went to pick up his truck and couldn't get it out of the parking lot as it would shut down while driving. We had to leave his truck there, and thank goodness Dave Goeke was able to get us

a loaner car as my husband would not have his truck to get to work the next day. Come to find out, the ground wire was never re-connected when the hitch was installed.

After getting our RV delivered to us for the 2nd time, we were excited to get it packed up and out for local weekend trip, Unfortunately, that trip did not happen due to discovering more issues. Nathan had confirmed that we were getting full propane tanks so when the furnace did not work when I was packing it appeared the furnace was not fixed. Come to find out the propane tanks were not filled as Nathan had requested. I also found similar water damage issues like the living room in both bedroom slides. We found exterior body damage and we had also learned the TV was never installed as Nathan had directed to be done. We know that this is a completely different unit than the one we viewed with Chris to purchase. ln addition to the TV missing, the fabric color for the Dining Room chairs and window valances were red fabric. The furniture in the living room felt like leather compared to the vinyl that is in the unit we have now. Your service department is picking up our RV, again, tomorrow (Nathan has been trying very hard to get this work complete for us) and based on our experiences to date, we don't have the confidence that we will get it back in ""ready to use"" condition.

We are now out of time, we have our first trip and extended stay scheduled to depart on March 30. We are out of town from March 14s until March 29th. We are very stressed having to depend on and having to trust that your service technicians get through all repairs and deliver back to us in ""ready to use condition"" by March 29th. We continue to have items partially fixed, it seems that Nathan's directions are not followed thoroughly, and after each repair trip to your service center, we find additional issues. This next time we don't have the time to deal with things forgotten or additional things damaged. I don't even know at this point with the additional water damage in the bedroom that we will have it back and in ""ready to use"" ""new"" condition on March 29th. To be frank, I don't know that this unit will ever be in ""new"" condition with all the damage that needs repaired. For the amount of money we have spent, I don't feel it is OK for us to deal with the extensive water damage, the repair to body damage......it is brand new, there should NOT be water or body damage in addition to all other issues we have experienced. It is sad that we are no longer excited about our ""front living dream RV"" and that we are questioning our decision to purchase a Forest River RV instead of a Keystone. We have made such a significant financial commitment to this RV, we feel we are now stuck. What is going to done to get us excited again and to get us the NEW RV that is worth the over $100,000.00 that we are paying on?
