Talent Reviews

I am very concerned that a company called "Talent," that held a huge audition event at the Crown Plaza in Newton, MA (Boston) may be a big scam. I brought my daughter to their advertised "free auditions." We heard about it from a radio station add. I noticed a red flag when the event host mentioned that the company pays big money in order to NOT be searchable online. In the meantime, their brochure states that membership with their company includes having a personal website that is searchable by the biggest search engines. When I got home, I tried to research about the company. True enough, Talent was not searchable nor were they accredited by the BBB. Furthermore, the BBB states that the company no longer exists. In order to find out more about the company, I searched for the phone # that I called to register for the auditions. I found a link to a news article warning. Here is the link: metronews.

ca/news/ottawa/1286452/ottawa-mom-warning-others-about-suspect-modeling-companys-disney-claims/. The procedure that was described in this article was precisely what I went through with my daughter, from the radio station ad to the day of auditions. I looked at the brochure and noticed that there is no physical address nor contact person to call. This company did not give us any way to call them back. In fact, during their presentation, they instructed us to not call them but that they would call us. My major concern now is, after reading the article and several reviews in ripoff.com, I remembered that we were all required to show our drivers' licenses in front of an iPad. They must have been scanned and pictures of us taken without our authorization. The application forms also required us to provide personal information about our children like birthdays & addresses. I am requesting that an investigation be done on this company before they are able to steal personal information and huge amounts of money from innocent people here in the Boston area. While in the conference room, they strictly enforced turning all cellphones off and if someone was caught using their cellphone they would be told to leave. They are charging between $2,000 - $6,000 for a webpage. We were mislead in thinking that our going there was an audition for casting calls, not to purchase a membership to a website that may actually be a scam. The phone # I called to register for this audition was (877) 966-1107. I am filing this report to hopefully prevent any innocent clients for falling for misrepresentation, extortion of monies or even theft of personal info or identity theft.
